Which played into why I expected more. Vick had to have done something to convince Self he wasn't returning as the same person/player.
He is having a similar season as Svi did last year.
More PPG on a better %.
There's just not a good 3rd guy to help him ( i.e. Malik ).

I’m sure someone has made this point but it should be reiterated: Vick isn’t reliable but if we had only one of Svi, Malik, Devonte, or Vick last year, we probably would have felt similarly. It helped to have 4 great-to-good shooters at one time. We don’t have that luxury really. Every three from Vick is needed and ones from Ochai, Grimes, Dotson, and Garrett are gravy at this point.

I'd have taken Devonte in a heart beat over Vick and same with Malik.
Svi I'm not so sure of - he is a spot up shooter and had some action to the basket, but couldn't create the space to get his shot of like Vick can. I think they'd be similarly frustrating.

If they are in a spot with a must have 3, is Agbaji the 2nd option? For a 40% shooter, I'm just not fully confident in Dotson taking a 3. To his credit, he takes good ones to help his percentage. Release is just a touch slower than the rest in a situation where the defense is guarding the 3 point line.

I would say Ochai is our second best perimeter shooter.
Form is pretty good, doesn't hesitate.

I have to agree, Ochai or even Dedric, for better or worse, are the next guys I have confidence in behind Vick to shoot threes.

I agree. We are flawed but still good. Add Silvio back in(praise the most high it happens) and we can go back to being somewhat like we were before Dok was hurt. Silvio could be even better than Doke in some respects(rebounding and free throws) which could be interesting.

Kentucky defended Vick Very well and by design. This KU team doesn’t have very many dimensions to focus a defense on.
Last year, an opponent had to guard the three line against ALL our guards. That is woefully and laughably not the case this year.
Vick is long and fast on defense. He doesn’t get rattled nor emotional. Sometimes he lapses on the tertiary step of our defense in the 25th second of the shot clock.
List me as a Vick fan.

Vick is long and fast but doesn’t press his man and doesn’t track quickly and gives up on plays.
I’d say he’s an average defender most nights. Sometimes above average.

Lonestarjayhawk wrote: Sun Jan 27, 2019 8:41 pm I am not saying that Vick isn't a valuable part of the team. I am questioning how he is best used. There are games that he disappears. 35 minutes per game may be too much for Vick. He is a scorer who isn't scoring. Focus him.

I don't buy that Lawson can't play with another Big. He did okay with Dok. He hasn't played many minutes with David. He has played ZERO official minutes with SDS. Take David's name out and replace with Agbaji.

Vick benched. Agbaji into starting lineup tonight. Please be an attempt at motivation and not a punishment.

Motivation for a senior 20 games in sounds way worse than punishment.
