You look at what was going on in football and the four super conferences with sixteen teams that walk away from the NCAA. I don't think anyone put the billion dollar march madness basketball tourney in the equation.

That's just a step in the process, if the NCAA decides to go that route. If the NCAA rules in their kangaroo court that KU is guilty, then you can bet everything you have it becomes a legit "legal case" where brudens of proof come into play.

That's just a step in the process, if the NCAA decides to go that route. If the NCAA rules in their kangaroo court that KU is guilty, then you can bet everything you have it becomes a legit "legal case" where brudens of proof come into play.

Of course, before that time comes, you will have the NCAA making technical arguments about how none of these matters can be properly brought before a real court, in any case.

You can contract out of the right to bring claims in court. You probably do it all the time without really paying much attention (have a look at, say, your credit card or cell phone terms of service).

I gather, from the way the various committees are described here, that there's language in the bylaws or somewhere else where schools purportedly give up their right to appeal decisions in court. That won't stop KU from trying, but they'll be fighting the words on the page.

This has certainly put a 'stain' on the KU name forever but it is still best for KU to keep pushing this as long as possible. Go the UNC route; don't back down and eventually the NCAA will cave. With as fast as this world is moving these days and the hot button that has become amateur sports KU should hold fast and firm on its stance.

Now, this would only make your spidey sense tingle a bit if you had any reason to think the NCAA had the capacity for being extremely petty, shortsighted and disproportionate.
