Lol. I'm not exactly sure that locking yourself into Carr (or Cousins) is exactly trying to win or compete.

I just think it's exceptionally hard to really compete if you're committing that much of your cap to a second- or lower-tier quarterback.

It might well be true that Cousins and Carr will be "better than all or very nearly all of the first round picks" over the next 2-3 years, BUT those picks are on rookie deals that allow for a lot more to be put around them.

Plus, we are seeing that teams' philosophies are not SB or bust. It seems to be playoffs or bust, and we just watched 2 4 seeds play in the SB.

I also think contract structure matters. You're committing big $$'s but mostly in the short term.
