Thanks to covid, he will get to play 4 seasons as the starting PG due to getting an extra season. So far he has played 1.5 of those. I am aware that he came off the bench for a season.
I'm confused. How is he not 2.5 years into his career at Kansas then?

With the covid year he gets 5 years. And he's 2.5 years into it. Right?
Since you are having a hard time, I will reword it.

"Let's keep in mind that he is 1.5 seasons through what will be 4 years as the starting PG at Kansas."
Gotcha.

Wasn't hung up on the starting word. I was hung up on the 1.5 seasons thing and the 4 years thing.

I get what you mean now. He's played 2.5 seasons. Started 1.5 seasons. Will play 5 seasons. Will start 4 of those seasons.

Sorry.

The whole covid rule throws me off. He basically gets 6 years at KU and gets to play in 5 of those years.

Dajuan is going to break the most wins by KU player record and it will never be broken.

He's in like a unique Tyrel Reed goldilocks zone where he's good enough that the program wants him around for every possible season but never good enough to go early in the pros. He's really about the perfect guy to have 6 years in the program given his lack of physical tools, high BBIQ, and the position he plays.

Yep. It may be a very long time before we have someone in this situation at that pivotal position so it will be really fun to watch develop for the next few years. That multi-year development is part of what I love so much about college hoops so it's a really fun scenario to be in the middle of and so far, it is going wildly better than could have been anticipated.

So many losses by Top 25 teams yesterday. 5, 9, 11, 14, 15, 16, 18, 29, 20, 23 and 24 all lost, most of them on the road.

76 straight home wins. Get outta here with that weak conference Gonzaga.

For real. The endless West 1-seeds they get are so asinine.

It really is absurd.

They play a November/December schedule comparable to ours/Kentucky's/etc., and then...we play 18-22 real games from 1/1-3/17, and they play two or four (depending on whether anyone but St. Mary's is even marginally frisky).

It's not their fault that UCLA and UA have sucked as of late. But what they've done is almost a scam. Their budget is among the top 15 or so programs in the country and they choose to stay in a conference comparable to D-II.

It would even be different if they were in like Atlantic 10 or Mountain West or something. If seeding is supposed to be about wins, stop rewarding them. Then through all the advantages of being 1 in the west, 2 Final Fours in 23 seasons for Few also suggests to stop giving it to them.

For comparison, in Kansas' last 76 true home games in AFH (not counting that Sprint Center shit as a home game), Kansas has played against 23 ranked teams.

Apparently their lack of conference challenges doesn't really matter come NCAA Tournament time.
If I am not mistaken, I believe they may have won more NCAA Tournament games (collectively) in the past 7 or 8 tournaments than KU has. Am I right or wrong? I honestly don't know.

They are close. They have 27 ncaa tourney wins since 2010 vs. Kansas' 31.

But yes, I am with you in that playing more tourney/ranked teams in the regular season doesn't ensure tourney success and playing less of them doesn't ensure tourney failure.

1 seeds in the west are fun.
I'd be curious to see if there is anything to this. Do they tend to put weaker 2-8 seeds in the West, making it easier for a #1 seed to advance?
Kansas was a #3 seed in the West in 2021 and got boat raced by USC 85-51. Gonzaga was the #1 seed in the West and beat that same USC team 85-66 to advance to the Final Four. The #2, #3 and #4 seeds in the West that year all failed to even make it out of the 2nd round.
