Re: CFB 2022
Excellent point about UGA getting to choose to play in Atlanta - and it would be a big advantage for them. That's assuming they beat LSU. Georgia is currently around a 17 point favorite.
I assume USC will beat Utah in the Pac whatever number it is Championship but the last time USC and Utah met - Utah won. According to ESPN USC is only a 2.5 point favorite.
I'm trying to figure out what happens if both TCU and USC lose this weekend. I assume tOSU is then in but would 10-2 Alabama sneak in?

So in 2024 CFP going to 12 teams also in 2024 UT and OU to SEC and USC and UCLA to BIG10. It is going to get crazy.

Re: CFB 2022
Interesting (to me) that the CFP is allowed to have more power over the NCAA. I'm not a smart guy and I am too lazy to do the research. How did this come about - that the CFP committee dictates who plays in the "major" Bowl games and not the NCAA?
My broken record question is.... Why do NCAA Presidents/Chancellors/A.Ds allow the NCAA to rule over them and can't they collectively come up with a new/better governing body?
The NCAA will never be perfect but it's sucked and been broken for a long time.

Re: CFB 2022
Happened a long time ago. Schools own football. Probably the major reason basketball does not count. Almost all the money for the NCAA comes from March Madness. They do not get any of the football money. If you can look and see the future of where all this is going. Some form of schools are going to walk away from the NCAA. There was some recent push to create a COO of football by some schools.
So originally I thought it was going to be four 16 team conferences that were going to be formed and then walk. But now it looks like two. The SEC and the Big10 are going to expand to a level and then walk. Now you are either in that group of schools or you are out. The only thing slowing this down now is the ACC and it's penalty for leaving.
What you have to understand is this is 100% FOOTBALL. I do think that once they leave the NCAA they will then have their own Basketball Tournament and get that money as well, but what you do not want is to be left out.

Re: CFB 2022
So if you read all that and understand then you know that the Big 12 and Pac 12 are done. The FAT lady is singing. LOUD.
But we have a chance. The new stadium is huge. Big time. WE just need to show a viable football team on the field. The expanded playoff could be for us a catapult. Right now if there was the expanded playoffs today that Purple team would be in. Two years from now if we keep JD and some how find some form of defense we will be playing in the water downed Big 12 and could get in. New stadium on the horizon and we in the playoffs. We are for sure going to be allowed in.

Good posts hartjack!
Next question.....
If USC loses tonight and TCU loses tomorrow, does Bama leap frog one if not both of them?

Re: CFB 2022
What happened to OSU?? They are in front of Bama! Bama not leap frogging OSU that has already been decided. I do not think Bama should jump in front of a one loss TCU. Really USC needs to win to get in if they lose they out. If TCU loses then OSU could jump them but not Bama.RainbowsandUnicorns wrote: ↑Fri Dec 02, 2022 12:54 pm Good posts hartjack!

Re: CFB 2022
tOSU is in thanks to a USC gag (to a good team).
Now watch TCU lay an egg against KSU and Bama back door their way in.
Crazy shit.
Utah / Penn State Rose Bowl.

Re: CFB 2022
If a 10 win Bama team gets in over a 12 win TCU team with a tougher schedule then what are we doing?
I thought that 4 teams would be enough but I think 8 is the right amount so that you can’t get teams with one loss not getting in over teams with two. If you don’t get in and you have two losses, that makes sense to me.

I'm not disagreeing with your claim that TCU played a tougher schedule - but I would understand if some people felt it is debatable.pdub wrote: ↑Sat Dec 03, 2022 6:12 am If a 10 win Bama team gets in over a 12 win TCU team with a tougher schedule then what are we doing?

I'm not disagreeing with your asking what are we doing if Bama gets in over TCU - but "we" realizes $ > everything else. While I think an undefeated TCU team would be a great story in the CFP Playoff/s, a 1 loss TCU team wouldn't appeal to most people over a 2 loss Bama team. I figure most people would be indifferent about a 1 loss TCU team and have less interest in seeing them play over Alabama. People either love or hate Bama and little in-between. All that being said, of course the CFP committee shouldn't base who goes on who they feel the fans would prefer goes - what is fair is fair and it would probably be unfair to take Bama over TCU. I still think it's about 50/50 it would happen.
On a semi-related side note, I happen to feel tOSU probably got screwed when USC leap frogged them. My guess is most people disagree. Lucky for tOSU Utah proved to be a better team than the #4 ranked CFP team - last night - and also on 10/16. Good for Utah on making the Rose Bowl and I hope they beat the living shit out of whoever they play - most likely PSUck.

Sagarin has TCUs schedule as a tougher one. It will only get more difficult after today.

I think Alabama would beat TCU if they played each other.
Even so, I think TCU would deserve to make the playoff over Alabama.

Re: CFB 2022
They should simply exclude any team not in a championship game. How hard is this? These are extra games in a brutal schedule. And the SEC and BiG have three or four gimmes. The Big 12 does not. TCU in conference had the toughest path. I wish KU could play a BiG schedule. Indiana. NW. Illinois. Minnesota. Rutgers. Purdue. Wisconsin. Iowa. post-Big 8 Nebraska, MSU, two gigantos.

I agree with this.BasketballJayhawk wrote: ↑Sat Dec 03, 2022 7:36 am I think Alabama would beat TCU if they played each other.

It’s probably why, however long the NCAA lasts, it should be 8 teams.
Re: CFB 2022
Referee crew for the TCU game is the really awful one.

Kitties just got away with intentional grinding. TCU coach loosing his shit on the refs
