So.....
There are people who pay 10s if not 100s of thousands of dollars to get an education in weather forecasting and then get paid 100s of thousands of dollars to predict the weather.
There are assholes such as me who paid ZERO dollars to get an education in weather forecasting and get paid ZERO dollars to forecast the weather.
Yesterday the "experts" predicted we would get between 8 and 12 inches of snow in the 60611 zip code.
We have ZERO inches of accumulation.
My exact words last night to two buddies who were worried about getting to work today... "Honestly, you two are pussies. It's going to be too warm for the snow to accumulate. Book it".
I don't know how they should do it but it sure would be nice if the assholes who sent people in to panic mode would take some accountability. It's a not at all funny joke how incompetent the weather forecasters are. Worthless!
Have a nice day!

Who gets paid 100s of thousands to predict the weather? You realize it's software working with probabilities, not people, right?

I bought a Toro Power Clear 721.
Assembled it this weekend.
Any snowblowers have any snowblower tips for this snowblower virgin?

Expect to get snow blowing on your face (first timer) so wear a face mask if you have one.

Be aware of cars and house windows. You don’t want to hit them with snow/ice/rocks.

Figure out where you are going to put the snow. You don’t want to move it twice, but in the city that is sometimes unavoidable.

If it jams, shut the power off before you look in, reach in, or poke in.

The best people clear something for their neighbors and elders.

Yea.
I have an elderly neighbor.
I'll clear their driveway/walkway in the big snows ( 6+ ).

The owner's manual really makes a point to shut it off before reaching your hand into where the blades are.

Do snow blowers work when you have .25" ice under the snow? I shoveled my sidewalk and pathway this morning before heading out to work and it was a pain with the ice. I should have put ice melt down Sunday morning, but didn't think about it until it was really snowing hard. Anyway, my lower back hurts now.
