I'm psyched.
This is an asterisk bullshit useless game in my mind.
Udoka coming back. Conference play on the way. Dotson will get better. Maybe Grimes finds something. And surely one of Lightfoot/KJ/McCormack can find a consistent role. And holy shit what if the NCAA goes, 'hey DeSousa, we don't know what we're doing' and he gets to play? Also maybe Charlie Moore keeps shooting 3's.
I factor the officials as a major cause for the actual loss but we deserved a loss this season because of our play. It probably shoulda been against a shittier team like New Mexico State or Stanford. A road game v a ranked team? OK.

That jump ball call at mid court with Marcus Garrett may be the worst call we see all year. I hope so st least, then again how could it get any worse? Holy shit.

In real time, short of a whistle that didn’t happen, I thought it was half court violation on Garrett.
But yeah, generally with a jump ball, the other guy at least kind of has to have at least one hand on at least one part of the ball, or somethin.

I can't find video of that play.
Or slow motion video of the dude running into Vick.
Or slow motion video of the backcourt violation on Dotson.
I wish ESPN+, since I pay five bucks a month for it, would let me watch replays, kinda like I was able to with ESPN3, which I paid zero bucks a month for.

How do the refs not look at the over and back play? No monitor review???

I thought that was a thing too.

Yeah, I was expecting that call to be scrutinized.
Hang on - how does a game with so much ref action have no unnecessarily long and ridiculous video reviews down the stretch?
Okay now I think there’s some ref conspiracy.

Surprised there was no mention of the play in the first half where Martin literally shoves Dotson to the ground. Travel.
And pdub, as far as replay goes, I'm able to get it on ESPN+.

Huh.
I'm through Direct TV Now.
Maybe they won't allow a replay with that.

Dotson kicked it out. And he should have caught the ball in the first place.
The Garrett play was absolute BS. Lawson getting absolutely mauled away from the ball pretty much every possession was the worst though. And then Vick gets called for two little touch fouls surrounding Grimes getting fouled on that 3. Awful, awful officiating. But hey, it does happen to other teams at Allen too.

"Officiating"?
How do you think Benny felt last night?
Maybe one day a guy will lose his shit and beat the crap out of a ref - and perhaps then they will give a damn about making bad calls. Very little repercussion/s when a ref is just flat out terrible.
Could you imagine of this happened late in a close game? Phantom foul followed by a T.

When’s the last time you saw Bill absolutely chewing an officials ass instead of going to shake the opposing coaches hand when the clock hit zeroes? I honestly don’t think I’ve seen him do that in 16 years, complete displeasure with how the game was handled at the end.
Anytime KU hit a big shot, ASU had the answer. They were chucking up all sorts of garbage that was going in. So much time to grow up for the freshman, take this as a learning point for conference season since we have 9 more Super Bowls coming up...

Blaming officials is the ballad of the loser.
I stop short of blaming as we were awful down the stretch, but there was such a head scratching stretch of calls/non-calls.

This can't be reviewed.
I don't see a good reason, if the play is stopped due to this call, not to review.
It's not subjective like a foul call.

what would have been reviewed/reviewable?
if it was a matter of whether ASU touched it chasing after it?
Anybody got a replay either way?

There is no reason not to discuss bad officiating after any game win or loose. I like huggins idea that they should have to have post game pressers to be accountable for their calls.
No question that was a weirdly officiated game, but we should have had a cushion to protect from that. I thought we were 10 - 15 points better but maintained a ~5 point lead most of the second half.
This team has been living on the razors edge, playing in WAY too many close games. You let enough teams hang around too closely and you're bound to loose some games you shoulda won.
