If we could somehow get either of Hurt or Achiuwa AND Cassius Stanley, we'd be sitting pretty.

I'm starting to think Stanley is a must have.

Thanks to the staff and adidas and the fbi and the handlers and the guardians and the ncaa, we have a $#|t ton of question marks surrounding the program right now.

That's probably setting ourselves up for disappointment. I'd be pretty surprised if we landed any top 50ish recruits this spring. There's just so much going on in the program right now.

If we're worried about next season's roster, I think our best route is the grad transfer market.

All I really want next year is to have the entire roster available day 1, no matter who it is. No more waiting on the ncaa to decide scenarios. No more suspended players because they've done something stupid.

If we could just have the entire team ready to go from the beginning that would be refreshing.

I am little bit exhausted with all the transfers and grad transfers of late. I like 3-4-5 year program guys. Go get me some program guys like SC and TR and DG and FM and Svi and BM and TR and PE and so forth. Program builders. Foundations.

To lower ball? I don’t see the point of coming here in the first place then. Looks to me he’s a role player even at a mid-major. Might as well stick it out here.

And the grad transfer thing is entirely an assumption that he’s a year ahead on his studies.

"His brother, K.J., who transferred to KU from Memphis with him and will graduate after this semester, also could have a number of options open to him, as well."

So why stick around Lawrence? Either go play ball in Turkey, find a career, or maybe go play with your little bro in Oregon. I just don't understand what KJ would find appealing about staying, unless he really wants a masters from KU.

KJ gone
Dedric gone
Dok gone
Moore gone (maybe to the local KC YMCA 6 foot and under league)

Grimes, Dotson, McCormack, and Ochai is an alright base but we need something to spice up this stone soup.

Gone for sure =
1. Dedric
2. KJ
3. Doke

60/40 gone =
1. Grimes
2. SdS

50/50 =
1. Moore
2. Dot

Best case scenario you build a team around Dot, Dave, and Ochai and one of the three; Precious, Stanley or Hurt.

Worst case scenario you have to build around Dot, Dave and Ochai. Prepare yourself for a long, long year.

I'd go:
Gone for sure=
Dedric

95/5 gone=
Dok

80/20 gone=
KJ
De Sousa

40/60 gone=
Grimes
Charlie Moore

20/80 gone =
Dotson

Ah, I missed that. I agree that definitely makes it way more likely.

I still don't know that he doesn't stay, though. I don't know that he has a bigger role elsewhere as I think we will need him more than most are willing to admit. He's certainly not going anywhere with a higher profile than KU. (The school thing is rather irrelevant. Once these guys graduate they usually just take one single class per semester just to stay enrolled--not too bad of a setup for someone like KJ)

Bill's incentive for trying to keep him here is to keep Keelon Sr. happy as we are recruiting Johnathan.

I love how people assume that none of our players will improve over the offseason.

On Moore: that would take Bill kicking him out of the program. Which, it's happened before, so we'll see. Moore pretty much has no options, though.

If I'm an NBA GM, there is no way I'd take Grimes over Dotson this summer. I think Dotson stays, but I think he risks way less by leaving than Grimes would.

Agreed. Moore leaving would be of the 'forced' matter not voluntarily. Dude has zero options.

I'm up in the air on Grimes. Not sure what to make of that kid. I can see an NBA team taking a risk on him with a good couple of workouts because of his higher upside / ceiling but as of right now, with the tape teams have ZERO way I would see him getting drafted.

Dot. You are right on him not leaving. Maybe 40/60 on him leaving. Test. See what scouts have to say about your game, what you need to work on and then come back for your soph. year.

If I’m Grimes, the workouts and combine would really worry me. He’s not going to test out well on athleticism and he has no feel for the game yet.

His best path forward is Selden.

Hopefully he doesn't follow Selden's path to a T because that will mean his sophomore year is maybe worse than his freshman year.
( but then his junior year he'll kill it )

19/20 Lineup Guess:
Starters:
Dotson
Grimes
Ochai
Hurt
McCormack

Bench:
Cassius Stanley
KJ
Moore
Mitch

That's an.... ummmmm… average lineup..

Moore barely qualifies as a warm body. I would not be surprised if he is shown the door. I know we need back ups but he is a case of less is Moore.

We should be ecstatic for this lineup.
