I wish this episode would have had more than just game highlights, but I did enjoy it. At least we’re not a door mat anymore. That’s progress in my opinion

Haha that’s hilarious!
I mean, he does have a teenage daughter and 3 other kids like under 25.

Mike Gundy: Prince.
I have new respect for that man.
I couldn’t be more proud to call Les Miles, the head coach of my alma mater!

Another fantastic episode.
Dearmon is a start.
Miles and Stanley talking in the locker room just minutes after beating Tech.
Miles - "They haven't beat that flippin team down the road in years"
Stanley - "It's time"
Miles - "Ya know what, it's time"
Fist bump.
The attention was turned to kstate just minutes after one of the biggest wins in the last decade. Miles is going to put such a huge emphasis on this game, as he should.

These episodes are so much better when they WIN.
I loved Les saying we are going to beat K**'s ass and then immediately realizing it could become bulletin board material by saying they are a 'worthy opponent'.
Saturday can't get here soon enough.

Also:
Les - "Who do we play next week?"
Team - "kstate"
Les - "Who do we play? Who do we play? Who is kstate!?"
Team - Explodes and fired up.

Well this weeks episode wasn't so memorable. It was nice to remember how fun and great the atmosphere was before Thompson ran all over the defense. I have purposely tried not to watch any of the 'lowlights' from that game but that was an awful reminder of how far this program has to go. They still have to figure out how to win.
The Halloween stuff was really cool.

Tough watch. The thing I like about Miles he’s always level headed after the game (except for kstate week) but that calming presence is big for this program.
Bye week comes at a good time to give the offense more time to work together in this newer offense. Miles first time back in Stillwater, so that’ll be interesting.
The Halloween part was cool. Beaty would let those guys go home for Halloween, I’m sure. Miles doesn’t want guys to leave during game weeks, so he’ll bring Halloween to the coaches.
We talked about that way early on in Miles tenure. Beaty allowed guys to go home For dinner and take kids to school and all that, and you can’t have that in this profession. I remember a story from some school, don’t remember who, but an assistant left to go to a gas station for a drink, the head coach wrote a note and said we have plenty to drink here at the office, leave like that again and I’ll let you go. That’s the mentality that successful programs should have regards to game week office hours. Be there every day, all day.

I don't totally buy all that.
Stoops did just fine at OU and I think he went home every night at like 5 pm.
Pete Carroll had a bit of success and they'd take breaks to hoop it up.
No doubt this is a grueling job, but I think there's a lot of, "I'm here 18 hours, that means I have a big dick" that gets tossed around.
Front Butt worked so hard he had a cot in his office because he couldn't take the time to go home, and he was the shittiest coach in the history of coaching.
Remember that coach for the lions who went for 2 when he shouldn't have and then the excuse was the rain erased his chart about when to go for two...if you're working 16 hour days but don't know when to go for two, your not making good use of your time.
I don't think Baty's lack of success was that he let coaches go home to eat with their families...
I mean shit, add up all the time in the Miles to Go series where they've shown Les just sitting, he coulda scripted an opening series for three games in that time.
It's not about how long you're at work, it's about what you get done.

I mean sure. That works when you're at a USC or OU, not at KU.
Weis might have had a cot in his office, but he also fell asleep during meetings.

Some of that is true on both sides. Just because you put in a ton of long hours doesn't mean you are going to be successful. You certainly want to work smarter and not harder. With the increased number of analysts KU now has some of that burden has been removed from the assistants jobs. When you are trying to build a program back I'm sure that staff has set a list of priorities that need to be accomplished and I would think that Les trusts his guys to get that done. Saying that the reality is if you are coaching at the Power 5 level you are going to have a lot of early mornings and long nights.

WTF? Weis had a cot in his office for his morning and afternoon naps. He was at Perkins by 5:30.

Short episode this week.
Focus on Miles boys being on the team and the fun they’ve had with that.
Good look at Adeniji getting Senior Bowl invite. Forgot he was going to go to Air Force but Mexicali’s wouldn’t allow him. Beaty took him in.
Also a look at what Miles thinks about having cameras around. He was interviewed on Golic and Wingo about it. Also said there have been times where he’s kicked cameras out and taken off the mic if the team wants him to do that.
