What Nixon did was criminal.

Therein lies the difference.

I don't care about re-arguing the "collusion" issue; so don't try to recast what is going on now as an attempt to resurrect a stale issue. What is going on now is a clear and present danger. I don't expect much from Congress. I expect this sad set of events will fall into the hands of a Federal Judge that has no worries about being re-elected, which is what has made the country great.

I didn't mean to imply that it would be a resurrection of collusion, merely to acknowledge the fact that the "collusion issue" will serve as the inescapable background for everything that happens from now until he leaves office. And this applies to both sides.

There are never full transcripts. As summaries go, this one is pretty detailed.

And yes, the whistleblower report is an entirely different document -- one which, by law, the executive MUST release to Congress.

40 probably would have been willing to remove him from the ticket the day before Election Day. It's an acknowledgement of two things: he makes it very hard for them and forces them to defend things they hate having to defend, which would manifestly NOT be the case if Cruz or Rubio, for example, were president. And it points to the necessity of creating political support for a political procedure (which is what impeachment is).

IF, when the trial rolls around, there is political support to convict him, they will convict him. If not, they won't.
