I’m good. Thanks for askin.

Could use some direction, but never had much of that in life.

How difficult is it to get out of a lease? Cuz I just renewed.

Right now my plan is to tend bar (or something similar) and enjoy one more winter up here, then make a move next summer-ish. I also wanna use the time to curate a creative portfolio of sorts.

Is that reasonable? Or am I better off trying to make a big move ASAP?

Really just depends how much demand there is for a place. I don't think anything bad would come of telling your landlord that you'd be interested in leaving early if he/she wants to lease the place to someone else.

I don't believe there's a playbook for life changes.

Trust yourself (sometimes easier said than done), and do what you think is right for you.

You'll be OK. That, I do believe.

There's lots of therapeutic good that comes from writing it.

But nothing good comes from sending it.

Write and then delete it. After you delete it you will realize it is not worth the effort of writing it again. Move on and apply your efforts/energy towards something positive.

Yes. Make them deny you were fired.

Also, in Missouri, we have “service letter” statute wherein, if you send your former employer a letter asking for the reasons for your dismissal, they have to respond in writing within 30 days. If your state has such a statute, you might consider that route. What is your state. If you can go that route, your time frame will be short.

I always listen to the advice of your local message board attorney, I do. And I have not spent one night in jail or lost a lawsuit yet.

Might as well, right?

Little extra vacation money, didn't you say you were going somewhere to write stuff?.

Yes, and it not a gummint handout. You have paid for it much the same way that you have paid for the "insurance company handout" when some jackass wrecks your rear bumper. If you want your State employment development agency keep the money that rightfully belongs to you (i.e. helps lessen the impact of a tough financial situation) then you are a more charitable person than I am!

I spent 7 or 8 years working construction and unemployment over the winter was just part of it.

So, for 7 or 8 years you couldn't find a job during the winter? Or for 7 or 8 years you didn't even try to find a winter job?

I suppose you could be criticized for not landing a job as a farm real estate appraiser for a bank in some podunk town where you could spend all day on a message board providing dumbshit opinions.
