Rise of Skywalker (spoilers)
Re: Rise of Skywalker (spoilers)
I'm the only one who liked the prequels?
1 sucked.
2 was interesting, I liked everything Obi-wan and Jedi-council-related in it. The love story was painful.
3 was quite possibly my favorite movie in the entire series.
I also think they told a complete story when put together with 4-6. 7-9 seemed like, if anything, did damage to that story. I did however really enjoy 8 for the unpredictability, and 9 was fun the second time around.
Of course, that's coming from an admitted weird nerd boy. Which I'm comfortable with.

I think the prequels are better than their reputation. Which, if you like the prequels and 3 the best, then I would not call you the typical fanboy. Perhaps you're more millenial than Gen X in that regard.Mjl wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2020 9:37 pm I'm the only one who liked the prequels?

That said, I would not go as far as thinking any of the prequels were good enough to be my favorite, but 3 certainly stands out of as the best of the bunch. 1 was just so awful and I found the sequels to be more entertaining as a whole.

You're an attorney -- it's not surprising you enjoyed it and thought it was good writing.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2020 9:43 amFan bro, you're on here on Christmas Day bent out of shape over "canon" and "feminist propaganda." How miserable.

Lobster has gone so far down the 'women are evil, bat shit crazy' road that he's warped his mind into thinking Star Wars used to have 'good writing'. That's really astonishing. The main complaint against Star Wars from day 1 has been the less than stellar writing. Conceptual it's an all-timer, but the dialog and writing have always been well below par.

You're right, the dialogue is atrocious.Cascadia wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2020 4:11 pm Lobster has gone so far down the 'women are evil, bat shit crazy' road that he's warped his mind into thinking Star Wars used to have 'good writing'. Also, after Empire, you've painted yourself into a corner so to speak. You have the enormous reveal/plot twist that Vader is Luke's father. After that, there's a precedent set. You can't really top that plot twist, because now the audience is expecting/ready for anything, and once you've done that, you have to have those twists because the audience expects/demands them.
So it's easy for the lobster's of the world to complain about them no matter what. But I wouldn't expect him to understand that because he's a musician.

Yeah, Empire Strikes Back was so bad. Just look at that awful Rotten Tomatoes score and IMDB rating. It's one of the highest rated movies of all time.
People just want to argue just because I'm not part of the crazy left anymore.

No one is getting political. This is weird.
Re: Rise of Skywalker (spoilers)
I wasn't saying it was getting political -- I was pointing out people just are throwing hissy fits because they don't like my political views (which are neither left nor right).
Cassy with his hilarious "I hate women..." rant. I guess he doesn't consider Carrie Fisher a strong independent woman.

I'll leave you to go back and figure it out as your homework.
Re: Rise of Skywalker (spoilers)
I think of Carrie Fisher as more of a sad, pitiable woman.
I wouldn't wish her demons on anyone.

I think of her as dead.
Re: Rise of Skywalker (spoilers)
Also, a huge LOL on the IMBD ratings. The 3rd highest rated movie of all-time on that site is The Dark Knight.
The Matrix is #16.......
.....two spots ahead of Empire!
