Yes.
But also 50 years probably felt like an eternity too.
I wouldn't know -- Geezer would a few times over.

Michiganders urged to stay indoors as officials race to stop the spread of a dangerous mosquito-borne disease
Not only are Michigan health officials dealing with the coronavirus, but they're also trying to contain the spread of a rare mosquito-borne disease.

Authorities are urging people to stay indoors after dark and protect themselves from mosquito bites after a resident in Barry County was suspected of having Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE), a potentially deadly illness caused by the EEE virus.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) announced the suspected EEE case on Tuesday.

...

About 30% of all cases result in death. There was an unusual uptick in the number of reported cases and deaths in 2019.

The incubation period for EEE ranges from four to 10 days, according to the CDC. Symptoms can be mild and might include fever, chills, aches and general discomfort, but severe cases can involve swell of the brain or meningitis.

I just realized that it’s totally my 2020 sports fate for the Chiefs to go 16-0 and then the playoffs are canceled.

Serious question. God forbid either scenario happens but would you rather the Chiefs go 16-0 and have the playoffs canceled or have the Chiefs go 16-0 and then pull a 2007 Patriots?

Your scenario implies the Chiefs go 18-0 but loose by 3 in the Super Bowl for their only loss.
Since the Chiefs won last season, i'd be OK with that.

If faced with either/both scenarios, that would be my preference too.
Let's hope they go 19-0 or if they don't, I have to assume they are going to make the playoffs no matter how many wins and loses they have at the end of the regular season so let's hope they win their last game of the season.

I mean...that's essentially what already happened to KU basketball.

As far as sports go...the worst thing that could possibly happen already happened for me.
