FFS, Dotson leads the league in steal and doesn’t make All-Defensive Team.

Garrett 3rd team? LOL

Self goes 17-1 and gets overlooked due to living up to expectations.

I have long suspected sour grapes playing a role in the coaches’ awards.

I get voting for Drew, but when you dig into Big 12 results only, he didn’t surpass expectations much more than Self and Self set the conference record for wins.

Yeah, and this year particularly, there's no reason to spread awards around. 8 teams sucked ass, no reason to reward mediocrity.

Well I was pretty close.
Garrett shoulda been on 2nd team.
Self obviously deserves it but it’s more of a exceed expectations award now.

Congratulations to Udoka!

I'm certain he set or tied the wins record for any major conference?

Virginia was 17-1 in 2018 and then lost to 16 seeded UMBC by 20.

Not that I'm implying that would happen to us.
I was just trashing on Virginia's 17-1 record.

Yes, but that’s just meeting expectations I guess.

Finishing 2nd, 2 games out and losing 3 of last 5 after being picked 2nd: groundbreaking.

It's weaksauce for sure.
I get that he can't win it every year but this was one of those years where it's a no brainer.

Didn't self win NCOY in a season when he didn't win the conference award? Could see that happening again.

Giving the award only to coaches who exceed expectations only makes sense if it's a first or second year coach, since assembling the team is part of coaching.

Beard won last year and I think Eddie Sutton ( my how time flies ) won when we finished 2nd to Oklahoma State way back in 04.
