I wish Congress would ditch the omnibus bullshit and vote on like a 2 paragraph long bill that plainly spells out relief for struggling Americans.
That's the kind of bill for which it
would be appropriate to rush to a vote, and not a moment too soon.
They are confused. They did not get the memo that states THE STIMULUS PACKAGE IS INTENDED TO STIMULATE THE UNITED STATES.

It is no different than any other bill passed by our horribly dysfunctional government. They are so filled up with pet projects and paybacks that will get inserted while the masses scream that they need their $1,200 that the number increases a hundredfold.
This country is fucked when these bills come due.

Yea i dont disagree. Just that this one has a specific purpose. If it doesn't address that specific issue then veto it

The only specific purpose this, or any other bill, have is the title.

I wonder if this would be more easily realized if Mericans weren't already so conditioned to vote against their own economic interests.

Cognitive dissonance, my friend. Where were the all-caps in 2009/2013/March?

Probably a bad bill. But it does help those in the US who need it. I'm torn. May take six more weeks to get something workable.
but does it?
seems to me that for the people that really need assistance, the amount they’re getting isn’t enough...while people like me are getting stimulus when we don’t need it

For many, not sure $600 is “stimulating” a thing. Its going straight toward rent or bills or whatever, never to be seen again.

Aren't they technically for relief and security rather than stimulus.

The words "it's not my money" get thrown around a lot. In Trump's case here, though, they're absolutely true. Other than $750.

Trump vetoing this may turn out to be a great thing actually. Republicans are turning on him hardcore now... This was a big fuck you from Trump to McConnell. Now Chump is off to Mar A Lago for more golf.

You like this bill? Billions to israel (whos govt has collapsed) and sudan than to our people? Millions to pakistan. Illegal streaming felonies, racehorse tax breaks, millions to plan for the reincarnation of the dalai lama, billions to corporations. Who's on the hook for all that? Us, taxpayers. We get 600 and owe for a decade. You like that?
