I'd be bored out of my mind if I had an HOA and they did all the landscaping and mowing. I actually like doing some of that stuff. Takes my mind off other things, plus you get out and actually chat with your neighbors.

Yep, I installed some new low voltage landscape LED lights out front this afternoon with a couple spotlights that illuminate my 92 year old chimney. Looks good. I was fed up with the solar lights, just don't get enough sunlight to keep them going. Now I need some new mulch.

In the middle of the blizzard in Denver a crew of about 20 came through and shoveled all of the driveways and sidewalks and deck up to my front door. They were back first thing in the morning to clear things out again and then cleared the ends of the driveways after the city plow came through. Two years ago a big hail storm it took out all of the skylights in the neighborhood and by later in the afternoon the HOA had covered up every skylight. They take care of the entire exterior of the place; painting caulking, roofing, decks, landscaping, trash pickup, utilities from edge of house to the street and carry insurance on the shell of every townhouse. If you live 8 hours away, these things are great. $300 a month well spent.

The garbage truck arm-grabber-thing broke my trash bin this week.

The HOA told me to contact the waste removal company. The waste removal company told me to put the bin out front, and they will come replace it some time in the next ten days.

The HOA prohibits trash bins from being left out except on trash days.

A real pickle, friends.
