MOP may be a more lasting legacy despite that.
20 years from now, KU fans and BBW Chads alike may remember Mario more than Frank.
Pretty good point.
But, also a lot because of The Shot, though. We win by 5 in regulation and Shady takes home the MOP, that is kind of a trivia question. But, in some ways, so is NPOY with no title.
Many wouldn't remember that Collison took home a NPOY.
Who doesn't remember that?!?!?!
I think you will find a lot that won't remember that.
(And, here is where I say that I did not remember Gooden winning a NPOY)

Here’s a thought:
In terms of Vegas odds or whatever, is it more difficult to guess a poy or a mop before the fact?
For BBW Chad's or for fans of said college basketball team.

Had we won it in 2012, there's a reasonable chance EJ is named MOP.
TRob woulda won it.
18 and 17 in the title game, yup.
On top of being our 1st team AA, conference poy, star all year, and even won some national poy awards from the lesser outlets who didn’t decide halfway through the year they were giving no it to unibrow regardless

I also remember him being pretty dominant against Ohio State and Sullinger.

I didn’t know Collison won a poy, but also didn’t pay much attention to college hoops until I got to KU, unless it was while small talking with fresh-from-KU petite little high school English teachers that I am not at liberty to discuss any further.

I think we need to out some KU fans as only being Bill Self fans.
This is embarrassing.
You guys know KU played ball before Self got here right?

There's a strong argument that Collison is on the KU Mt. Rushmore.
Wilt, Danny, Mason, Collison is a pretty good Mt. Rushmore.

Yea.
My English teacher told me all about it.
Then she gave me some crap about me not paying enough attention, I dunno, I wasn’t really listening.

especially anyone “from” the KU area
i moved to Lawrence in the summer of ‘90 and was immediately a fan. i like college b-ball before then, but it was never really my favorite sport to watch. KU changed that for me

Lovellette easily over one of the last 2.

The'02, and '03 teams are among the best all time and are very high on my list of favorite teams.

I was all Jordan/Bulls until 1993 when KU first caught my attention. Rex Walters will always be on my own personal Mt. Rushmore.
Sadly, the first CBB I recall is Laettner, Hurley and dook--but hated them.

Fwiw I’ve tried to make up for it by knowing from memory every starting lineup since my freshman year on campus.
Even the rotation guys off the bench, or lineup changes, or, for instance, trivia time!
Who started in Rush’s absence while he rehabbed from injury early in the 07-08 season?

I dunno about that, in a largely non-integrated era, I'm not sure one national title trumps back to back FF's.

Yea.
I think Collins started a couple too.
And - cuz I just looked this up and saw neither started against Arizona - we apparently started Russ, Mario, Arthur, Jackson, Kaun?
I totaled my car that night pulling into Set Em Up Jack’s to watch the game when some old lady t boned me.

I am very partial to the modern era and think limiting to 4 is pretty much impossible, anyway. But Lovellette was an absolute giant in the sport. Add on the 2 consensus first teams, NPOY/Title combo year, IIRC he also led the country in scoring, yeesh.
