i almost said something similar but with salted caramel
Salted caramel tastes like caramel....thats the flavor.

Salt water taffy has 1000 different flavors....none of them are "salt"
lol

caramel tastes like caramel

salted caramel has that little extra something...i think the flavor is called salt
So...youre saying it enhances the caramel flavor? Because if it was just salt....its be called salt salt. Not salt caramel

sure, it enhances (changes) the caramel flavor

just like caramel “enhances” the apple flavor in caramel apples

There is nothing where salt is the primary flavor. Which should be a disqualifier

Mint or vanilla "enhances" the flavor too.

No, they add their own flavor. Salt pulls moisture out of food to enhance the flavor of the thing itself.

Salt
Sour
Sweet
Bitter
Bumping this. There are four main flavors.

How do we get a perfect thread score?
I've heard pretty good and maybe even a really good.
But never perfect.

So if salt didn’t also share its name with salt, where would this thread even be?

Then what's mint?
You just chewing a mint leaf and call it a day?

Sure.
You could.

Salt is absolutely a flavor.
I cant believe this is an argument.
You taste salt, you know what salt is, it is the flavor of salt, which is a flavor.

You are blindfolded, and eat a spoonful of salt, and you say, that's salt.

Same as if you ate a mint leaf.

Y'all are crazy.
Salt is a base flavor. Its also more versatile than mint.
This is like if someone was asking what was the easiest way to score in basketball and people were arguing 20 foot turnaround fadeaways when you could just say uncontested layup.

If you want to say what is the most versatile flavor besides the base flavors, then maybe we can talk.

DMac says leave 20 foot turnaround fadeaways outta this.

The real question we need to ask is, where on the salt sweet bitter sour is mint then?

Bitter sweet.

It would be sweet if DMac took more uncontested layups. Hed be pretty salty. Maybe so many posters here would be less bitter and wouldn't easily sour on him.
