And without mumbling through songs we'd have never had Bob Dylan, or REM, or Pearl Jam
Is this supposed to be a bad thing?
You're one of those who can dish it out but not take it.
Happy to shit on everyone else's tastes but lack the balls to present your own.

Without Springsteen, Courtney Cox would have never been discovered and Friends would never have existed...just imagine what a void we would all have in our lives.

Dire Straits definitely, but I was never a Rush fan.
Others:
- Depeche Mode
- The Cure
- The Smiths
- New Order
- Psychedelic Furs
- Violent Femmes
- Jesus & Mary Chain
I got more into the "alternative" 80's music in HS.

Wow, I didn't expect you to turn into a bitch on this.
I don't like Springsteen. Definitely do not like Pearl Jam. Never cared for REM.
Not sure how these opinions are shitting on anyone.
LOL.
Still not gonna list the shit you listen too.
Who's the bitch?
I'm open to the idea that not everyone likes the music I like, but I will also maintain that country music - listening to it, playing it, or exposing others to it - should be a capital offense.

Country music used to be so cool - some strung out folk-blues antihero singing grim narratives about the human condition to an audience of prisoners.
now, it’s basically a Ford truck commercial.

Thats not country. Thats money grabbing bullshit. Just like most pop.
Same thing has happened to hip hop

Well, outlaw country in general, and much of early country/blues/folk/roots music.
But yeah, modern country is so homogenous. Trucks, cold beer, blue jeans, small towns, dirt roads, cute little girls in sun dresses (who go on to write songs about how their ex was a small town drunk so they keyed his truck)
