If my 5 day vacation at a 3 star resort got upgraded for free to a 12 day vacation at a five star resort but then that offer fell through and I just got a 9 day vacation at a four star resort, I’d be mildly mildly upset but certainly wouldn’t be unsatisfied. I’d be happy that it was better than expected to begin with, was still on vacation and enjoy myself.
We all are different I guess.
I guess so - because if all I saw here was vacation, I'd probably be satisfied with that scenario.
But I don't want this to be a vacation. I don't want this to be a repeat of the Reesing (and post-Reesing!) years.
I want this to be real life, and I think it is.
So, no, I don't consider a bowl win for a bowl win's sake to be satisfying. I want something that marks an appropriate waypoint toward a run at the CFP next year - and that's on the table, for sure.

Sure, why not?
We play Lindenwood, UNLV (all the MORE reason to have said "fuck this game") and Illinois.
Then:
Home: Colorado, Houston, Iowa State, TCU
Away: Arizona State, Baylor, BYU, Kansas State, West Virginia
Is the top-end goal of, with a healthy Daniels, getting through that schedule with one or zero losses, out of the question?

And (whispers) a lot of years going forward. This is NOT a strong football conference. Living in the 8-10 win zone should be the expectation, which means every now and then you should find yourself right in the thick of things.

I'm actually wondering if they are gonna change the vernacular to the p4 moving forward.

Not sure it's worth the time to print the t-shirts. Right/wrong/indifferent, I think we all know where this is going.

Also enjoying my vacation right now doesn’t mean I can’t expect more and better vacations later.
Just enjoy the vacation while you are there.

i'll enjoy the vacation during the game, while the vacation is active.

Well in this analogy, the free part of the vacation is active. The last day is today and it’s loaded with any/all events you can opt into or just chill.
“Ugh, remember we had a shot at that free five star resort,” he muttered as he looked out at the ocean taking a sip of his Herrudura fresh lime juice marg which was entirely free, “we coulda been there right now…I just can’t get over it.”

Unsatisfied.
Nope. Fan me is super excited as well.
Big picture me says UNLV and this bowl is less exposure, which could ultimately (not decidedly) be less attractive.
to me, this says exactly what your scenario says. But, since we need to say and feel things the same exact way you do in order for the circle jerk to be over, you are right.
Rock Chalk. I'll be back for the game.

You aren’t the character drinking the Marg and being bummed out in that scenario.

Playing UNLV in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl at 9pm ET on the day after Christmas is, as a vacation, spending three hours in a timeshare presentation in exchange for two nights' lodging in Reno.
Which is to say, yes, I suppose it is a vacation. But it's not much of a reward for such a great year, all things considered, and it's not much to go on heading into what should be an amazing 2024.
That's all.
Again, my dissatisfaction is BECAUSE of how good of a year we had, all things considered.

I find that ranking nonsensical. I do not, personally, see how our game is ranked as better (#12) than:
13. Texas Bowl: No. 21 Oklahoma State vs. Texas A&M
14. Gator Bowl: Clemson vs. Kentucky
15. Holiday Bowl: No. 15 Louisville vs. Southern California
19. Duke's Mayo Bowl: North Carolina vs. West Virginia
22. LA Bowl: Boise State vs. UCLA
23. Las Vegas Bowl: Northwestern vs. Utah
27. Fenway Bowl: No. 19 SMU vs. Boston College
31. Pinstripe Bowl: Miami (Fla.) vs. Rutgers
32. Music City Bowl: Auburn vs. Maryland
Yes, you will see a very particular bias on my end - but I do not believe that it's all that helpful for our ascent to be playing non-P5 teams.
