i have a sister that does not have kids. every time she gives her opinion on the subject i just roll my eyes and walk away.
people that never had kids can certainly express their opinion. i'm not going to listen to it or pay it any mind. but by all means.

Re: Unclehood
Having informed a large # of women sitting and waiting in an exam room they pregnant, before home pregnancy tests (and mobile phones) became available, some asked for my advice as far as when to inform people, and my advice was always: depends. "Depends" on a million things, and that means it's an individual decision without a one-size fits all, correct answer.
Previous history of miscarriage(s) or fetal abnormalities?---To name only one consideration.
~ 80% of miscarriages happen in the first trimester, so if there's someone who would take it particularly hard if you had to "untell" them, i.e., that you had a miscarriage, that might be a reason to wait until after 12 weeks.
Some couples choose to wait until after the fetal (blood) testing, (but that's really early), or first ultrasound, (usually at 20 weeks although to me, that seems like too long to wait), or after the heart beat is detected, (too early)...
My advice was generally to wait until 10-12 weeks, all things being equal*.
*Pro tip: In medicine, like life, all things are almost never "equal".

"Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect."
