He did not state the truth. Now that I have seen the actual statement, he completely misrepresented it.
Don't worry, JD has told him that it's fine to create stories to bring attention to issues.
I find it funny that the same people who are clamoring for truth keep making these assertions about Vance based on an edited clip of the debate in which his mic was cut off before he could make a valid point, i.e. that these people would not have been here legally but for the slipshod phone app status exemption granted by Brandon/Giggles/Mayorkas/Soros that is causing many of these problems.
I’m not talking about the debate.

randylahey wrote: Wed Oct 09, 2024 10:47 am Identity politics at work. There's plenty of women in the world that would make a good president. Kamala isn't one of them. And her being a woman certainly isn't a qualification to vote for her.

The guy said something really stupid. And will lose his job for it. I don't think politics belongs in the classroom. And certainly not comments about shooting people you don't agree with politically
This thread is a good example of how badly you weaken what you have to say, by exaggerating/twisting/distorting facts.

You are correct that the guy should not have said what he said.

But the fact that you have to exaggerate, twist and distort what he said, in order to make the points you want to make, weakens those points.

The guy did NOT say that anyone who refuses to vote for a woman "should" be shot (but that's how you put it).

The guy did NOT say that anyone should vote for Harris because she is a woman (but that's what you implied).

The guy did NOT say anything about "shooting people you don't agree with politically" (but that's what you said).

Semantics, you'll screech. All I'm saying is that when you have to exaggerate, twist and distort the facts in order to make your point, you are telling the world that you're not confident in the point on its merits.
it’s all he does

it’s so fucking tiresome

Hence, the danger of making these kinds of comments in the classroom. What one person interprets as flippant and dumb, another might interpret as a tone that says "I'm kidding, but I'm really not kidding." It's just better left unsaid in front of a class.
The far bigger danger is doing exactly what MICH did here by referencing a video they saw, deliberately changing the words and intent while not providing the full video and passing "their truth" of what they want the message to represent out to potentially an exponentially larger audience than that of who was in the class.
I don't disagree with that; however, it is the reality of the world we live in. Expect it to happen and act accordingly to begin with.
Yes, I agree that we do all have to remember that MAGA loons will take something you say and change the words to something you didn't say and then stir up some faux "OUTRAGE!" at the thing you didn't say while calling for you to be fired for what you didn't say.

It’s not just “MAGA loons.” It is the social media zeitgeist under which we all exist.

Ode to Perfesser Big Bucks
(with apologies to Robert Louis Stevenson)

I have a little shadow that goes in and out with me,
And what can be the use of him is more than I can see

He hasn't got a notion of how grown-ups ought to play,
And can only make a fool of himself in every sort of way.

He stays so close beside me, he's a coward you can see;
I'd think shame to stick to nursie as Perfesser sticks to me!

Fuck this professor for saying anything like this. He’s a fucking clown.

I voted for Stein in 16 as I was in no way in hell voting for Trump or Clinton, and didn’t want anyone to be able to point the ‘you didn’t vote for Clinton because vagina, etc etc’.

Dumb cunts all around.

Let me guess, you really voted for her because you were a big fan of Baraka. :?

I hate to hear that anyone with some degree of financial success impacts you so deeply.

But hey, you are fighting the good fight, providing guidance and personal development for the youth.

I am sure you can see the value in that, right?

I'm happy with my life. I feel good about what I do. I think I'll be even happier when we get the right POTUS back in office here in a few weeks.

By way of contrast, I'm not the one who feels the need to either a) respond to every post someone else makes and/or b) talk shit about them every time they post something. I would think that successful, universally-admired gentlemen like yourself and Trad would have better things to do than that.

At any rate, you don't get to bully me unconfronted, but you also have the option to leave me alone, in which case I will be happy to extend you the same courtesy.

It's your move, slick.

You’re so used to people letting you push them around that you think you’re proving a point. Sad.
