I wish we could bring in Mangino to get some two position players developed. Flanker QBs, two way WR/DBs. Innovate.
Can you imagine Mangino with today's snowflake kids? They'd last about ten minutes.

"Zebrowski called plays in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl, which KU won 49-36 over UNLV while tallying 591 yards of total offense." - KU Sports.com
Would like to see those kind of numbers next season. Now for the defense...

Good day for James/Jimmy/Jim and the Zebrowski family. His son won the Heritage Bowl today - in double overtime.
As far as the Guaranteed Rate Bowl last season.
Gutter being Gutter FWIW.....
UNLV was #92 in team defense last year.
199 of those yards came on 4 plays.
He had Jason Bean, Devin Neal, Luke Grimm, Lawrence Arnold, and Quentin Skinner, playing for him.

Borland stepping down.
Coordinators both gone.
Let’s see if it makes a difference.

All this seems just a little late. The Wizard is going to have his hands full with all the players we lost.
You typically do not promote from a staff that under achieves. But how could it get any worse.

I agree. Canning both Grimes and Borland mid-season and promoting the two assistants then rather than now would have sent a message to the players that we are not settling for mediocrity and that excellence is expected. Who knows how many commits and transfers might have been saved? Now, the transfer portal seems to be the only salvation.

These are all good moves and there are solid portal players out there. Gates Keyes back I saw. Find solid coachable talent like SMU

The only problem with new coordinators is that now the ‘but it was the 1st year the coordinators were here’ argument will come out from many.
Problem is, a lot of our players are going to be 1 (perhaps 2) year portal players moving forward. The learning curve can’t be afforded as it has in times past.

To me, it sends a message to the players that the coach has no faith in them to get it turned around so now he is going to roll some heads to cover his own ass.
Midseason firings are never good and rarely result in some big turnaround. Frankly, the KU team turned it around as well as they did BECAUSE they didn't fire their coaches midseason. I doubt more players would stick around after the assistant coaches they came here to play for are fired in the middle of the season. Firing an OC halfway through their first season shows impatience and a lack of sticking to your word and if I was a player who saw that, I'd start questioning everything a coach said to me and would probably leave for a more stable environment.
Midseason firings accomplish nothing but satisfying fans who want blood for being annoyed by missed expectations.

here in 2024(almost 2025), i would show the children as much loyalty as they show the program. which, here in 2024(almost 2025) is next to zero.

I would normally agree, but when you take the most talent-laden roster of the last twenty years and turn it into a 5-7 shit show, exceptions may be in order. But, that's just my opinion.
