Just imagine if we had a good running back.
That's sort of like looking at that Villanova team that
blitzed us in the title game and saying, "just imagine if they had a back-to-the-basket guy."
I agree with the sentiment that a ton of backs (of a particular profile) would do great in this offense, and that you don't need a standout guy. I
also think that taking the ball out of Mahomes' hands - even to give it to a standout guy - would be a downgrade in overall efficiency.
I don’t totally agree with this statement.
A good running back is less of a change of offense in the sport of football than one of five players playing a particular style of basketball.
Football is a totally different game with stop start specific scenarios.
Most good running backs today also have to be good pass catchers.
Hell even if you weren’t a good pass catcher—imagine Zeke in this offense with defenses terrified of being burned deep.
Give me Gurley, David Johnson, Zeke, Mixon, Michel, McCaffrey, Bell, Gordon, Barkley, Chubb or, I dunno, Kareem Hunt. I think even the two dudes in Atlanta Coleman and Freeman would be more productive. I think Williams will do just fine. But I also think he will do just fine because of what he’s given and a better running back could do more.

Any worries about a slump about MVPat were quickly put to rest on that first throw to Kelce. Makes it look so easy.

Mecole Hardman looks good tonight and is fun to watch. A very aggressive runner with the ball.

We're getting the game from Cinncy. Their broadcast team is the worst ever. Color guy's catchphrase is "ItellYouWut". Dude says it every other play. Nothing comes after it. "Nice pass, ITellyouWut."

I think I would prefer the Cincy coverage. Last night reminded me of why I hate preseason games. I want to watch the game and have the commentators analysis the action, not talk to the players on the sideline. As soon as the starters leave the game the game coverage sucks. Interviewing Patrick for the third quarter does not thrill me and Trent Greene wanted to "talk to him the rest of the game." Team depth is what is important in winning the super bowl. Preseason games are played to find the depth on your team.

Not only that, but "ItellYouWut", Hank Hill is my hero.

It got old fast.
So, any hope for our defense this year? Not very impressive on Saturday.

Was that Dave Lapham doing the color analyst? I remember him from being Fox College Football Saturday's from way back in the day.
Biggest area of concern to me, which should come as no surprise was the corner play particularity Ward. But I won't look to much into a vanilla scheme on defense and they didn't have Clark, Ogbah, or Okafor playing. If the refs don't overturn a kinda BS call the defense forced a turnover and overall I thought I saw better team swarming defense and one on one tackling.

Yeah for vanilla defense, they were just fine.
Breeland made some plays coming up and tackling and recovering well when he got beat to break up a long pass.
I don't take any stock on much of preseason until the 3rd game when the starters play at least a half and more often than not, the first 3 quarters. Stuff is still vanilla then, but you get a glimpse of most of the starters on the field together for a long time.
That being said, the Chiefs offense looks incredible. I honestly don't know if they'll have many 3 and outs or short drives. They can hit Hill and Hardman deep. Get Watkins and Kelce the ball in intermediate routes and a running game capable enough of keeping teams honest.

If they can stay healthy this offense has a chance to be SPECIAL.

As for your Bears, hard for me to see them going 5-1 in the north again.
My purple shades say Chicago and Minnesota both end up 10-6 and IN.

I agree it will be hard for the Bears to go 5-1 in the North. I'll be happy if they go 4-2.
Would be nice if I knew (present tense) more about this upcoming season than I pretend to know.
I will break it down in quarters of the season and I'll say Bears....
Go 3-1 in their first 4
home vs GB
at DEN
at WASH
home vs MIN
Go 3-1 in their second 4
at OAK
home vs N.O.
home vs LAC
at Phil
Go 3-1 in their third 4
home vs DET
at LAR
home vs N.Y.G.
at DET
Go 2-2 in their fourth 4
home vs DAL
at GB
home vs KC
at MIN
