$800M for a data center sounds crazy high. But, whatever, I’m guessing FB has the money.

I’m actually surprised it took this long for these to get here. So much cheap open land in area.

Also appalling how few jobs these create for localities and the tax break these companies get. But, these companies are job creators and our tax base! Sigh.

Yeah no kidding. It will create a lot of construction jobs, which is good. Probably create a lot of spin-off jobs as well by having such a large company and state of the art data center in the metro.

Apparently this is a big reason why meta, google, et al are interested in KC. KC is an abnormally large internet exchange point because of Sprint's (former) presence.

just saw a demo for molecular modeling via the metaverse

gotta admit it looks not only pretty stinking cool, but more importantly has the potential to be highly beneficial

do you remember the old school models of molecules, with the balls and spokes?

imagine having that in virtual 3-D, where you can grab it and manipulate it, and then compare it with other such molecules in that virtual space. you can “test” to see how the molecules might interact, at the very least in a physical sense

you know me well enough to know that generally i’d agree with you

but, for applications like drug discovery or even engineering, this has the potential to save tons of money and time if it’s applied properly

It sounds pretty cool Traddy but a little scary too. Maybe TDub and I have seen too many sci-fi movies.

I mean, no doubt we needed the precipitation.... its just a weird switch for mid April. Had to re-winterize things around the house, my early garden had started popping up, its probably dead now.....and this was probably a bad week to pick to work exclusively outside and off a scaffold haha.

ill just keep reminding myself we need the moisture.....because we do, desperately.
