Re: Would you be on the Jury?
Surprised it was all 3. But it is the correct verdict.

I think the fact it took about as much time as to eat a steak dinner to come to a verdict means it wasn't even close. I mean usually you have at least one or two that want to hold out for a bit just because, but this was a clear cut case.NewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 20, 2021 4:08 pm Surprised it was all 3. I barely followed the trial or anything since the video came out, but it just had to be the video.

We will see if the Judge is lenient on sentencing... In 8 weeks...

He deserves to be punished.
He murdered someone.
Jury got it right.

If not for the video, this gets filed away as a “medical emergency” as cops initially reported, and Derek’s still wearing a badge today.
Re: Would you be on the Jury?
the real question, is who is rioting?
mich, what do you have to report?

Re: Would you be on the Jury?
I'm surprised. Thought for sure this dude would walk outta there.
Defense. Rebounds.
Re: Would you be on the Jury?
Same. I had no interest in following this trial (not because it's not important, but because I had all the evidence I needed, and am not going to trust jurors to do the right thing). I'm not shocked that he was convicted here, but have been that others have gotten off. Hopefully this will give jurors more courage to start convicting cops in the future, but I still am not going to trust jurors until this becomes the norm, and not the exception.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Tue Apr 20, 2021 4:12 pm I barely followed the trial or anything since the video came out, but it just had to be the video.
Re: Would you be on the Jury?
Judge is sentencing, max charges I think was 10, 25 and 40. I think you gotta put it between the most severe charges. My guess is 30.

in that same vein, hopefully this trial will prompt more cops to speak out against egregious policing tacticsvega wrote: ↑Tue Apr 20, 2021 4:21 pmSame. May 26th last year:
"Officer should be off the force for good and tried for something....murder even?
Fuck that guy."
DC got real mad at me for that.

End QI and you'll see a lot more cops following the book. Putting one's freedom is one thing, but the bar is still too high. Put that cop's house on the line, and you get a cop thinking about their actions more than expecting to be protected.TraditionKU wrote: ↑Tue Apr 20, 2021 4:23 pmin that same vein, hopefully this trial will prompt more cops to speak out against egregious policing tacticsvega wrote: ↑Tue Apr 20, 2021 4:21 pmSame. I give the State credit for not overcharging, as they too often want to do.vega wrote: ↑Tue Apr 20, 2021 4:21 pmSame. Prosecutors are an odd bunch.
