Not sure how this is all going to shake out, but there's an interesting twist to the Lawrence Arnold story.
1. Announces his intention to transfer on Tuesday
2. As of Friday night, his name was still not in the transfer portal
3. He has since deleted the tweet announcing he was leaving KU
That would be great!

Yeah, I’ve also noticed his name is not officially in the portal. Would love it if he stayed.

Across the country in Kansas, Leipold is trying to prevent his roster numbers from dropping below 70. Like many coaches today, he finds himself re-recruiting players on his own roster.
Most recently, he got a big win in that category.
“I convinced one guy to stay today,” he sighs. “So I guess that’s good.”

That's a good win. Arnold's most likely going to be our WR1 and, depending on where you transfer to, might not get into a similar situation.

I am with Leipold--that was getting away a bit. I think the transfer portal should be after the championship game for about three weeks.

We'll bring some guys in too. I kind of like how the portal/May semester end date gives programs a 2nd round of recruiting after Spring ball evaluations.
Most of the guys we lost were just warm bodies on a scholarship. If we get a chance to upgrade, great.

If one quote sums up Charlie Weis:
Weis was frustrated. “These people don’t appreciate me,” he told one assistant coach.

Sounds like this is a serious must-read. I guess this is the one that gets me to subscribe to The Athletic.

Which message board do you think he read?

I've been on the $1/month for 12 months. A few months into it. It's been great. Going to try to continue taking advantage of their deals. They have some top notch writers and storytellers there.

Think the same. I haven't visited Phog in a while, but saw some familiar names from the .com days.

The quote from Bowen about reminding players that KU under Mangino didn't out-recruit anyone, they out-evaluated and out-developed players reinforced to me that Leipold was the right guy for this job. That's been his and his staff's MO.

Absolutely. They're fine recruiters, not overly flashy but serviceable. But man, do they develop.

Amazing how much QB play elevated the team too. Everyone began to take off including Walk-ons.

New KU Football series released by KU today on Youtube and their app. Going to watch over the day today. Should be really interesting. Directed by Micah Brown, the former KU player who caught the fake punt pass in the Orange Bowl.

If you're a podcast listener, I recommend the latest episode of The Jayhawker Podcast. It's nothing earth-shattering because it's a KU production, hosted by Wayne Simien. But the newest episode is an interview with Micah Brown. He talks a little bit about putting the series together and the differences sees between Leipold and crew having an actual plan versus the last few hires. He does admit though he has a soft spot for Turner Gill because his dad was a teammate of Gill's at Nebraska. Although that opened the door for Brown to come back to KU to produce projects like that. Anyone remember that first series they did with Gill?
