I think we are 2 seed good who really want to get a good draw.

To beat a team like Kentucky we need good Ochai, good Dave and either good Wilson or Braun.
We didn't get any if those.
We arent a dominant team. We are a top 10 team who could win it all with some luck.
I like this post.
I might take it one further and say this team will go as far as Och’s outside shooting will take them. When he plays confidently I would take them against anyone. When a team runs him off the 3 line or matches up with him athletically and physically this team is a first weekend exit.

Assuming this team is a 3 seed or better, is there a 6seed or higher that can do that?

Yes.
But not efficiently enough on an average day to beat us.
On a good day, where we arent good, we will loose.
This isn't a team that can fuck around with good teams and win.

I want potential NBA players at PG. DH Remy Yesufu and Bobby aren't that imo.
We need our next Dotson.

Who knows with Pettiford.
Frank was ranked lower.

True. Pettiford is too early to tell. But i don't expect Franks and Devontes out of every guy ranked in that range we get either.
And to be clear, DHs Pettifords etc are needed to win nattys....just not as main pieces. 6th 7th 8th man roles are important too.
In college basketball it really helps to have a dominant elite PG. Without covid we might have gotten an additional year out of Dotson. He should be the prototype PG for Self. Came in ready enough to go. Talented enough to go to NBA after 2 years and maybe you get lucky and steal a 3rd year out of a guy like that.

He’s right. This is a big problem with playing Harris.

I think it's more of a problem when Remy and DH are both on the floor.
DH off the ball is a horrible idea.

Dave is a more effective scorer than the guy with the ball in his hands, Vernon.
And one of the 4 is Remy.
Or, and two of the 4 are Remy and Dave.

Dave faces an automatic double team every second he spends on the floor with dajuan. It was that way last year too. Teams know that.

And so does Self...we have built in ways to attack defenses when they play off of DH this year. There were a few times tonight we capitalized on it. But it also doesn't help when our shooters aren't hitting shots. We sort of have to live by the sword and die by the sword when it comes to being so dependent on Och.

With this team I think I'd be fairly satisfied with winning the conference and making it to the second weekend of the tournament.

Self loaded up on transfers and he doesn’t play any of them. Not a good sign for now or the future. Why would I come play for self as a transfer if he shows this much blind loyalty to his own guys?

Frank wasn’t really a potential NBA player. I’m not sure that’s the bar.
But it’s abundantly clear that Self’s after-high/low offense is depending on having a strong lead guard. Ty, Frank, Devonte, Devon.
Remy was supposed to be more that, less Elijan/Naadir/Marcus.
He is not.

I’m not sure if Remy was ever going to get that chance or opportunity. Joined late, maybe was dinged up and just so happened to coincide with Juan supposedly being the best player in preseason camp.
Self, is loyal for better or worse to his guys. Juan is a Self guy. Just like Brady was and raw more talented guys who are more prone to making mistakes will take the back seat to lower ceiling steady guys.

We also need Braun to shoot the fucking ball.
