Personal preference obviously, but seems silly to me. There was no national champion that year because no tournament was held. That's okay with me. I think canceling it was the right move at the time.

Being the #1 seed overall is not the same as being A 1 seed.

Being ranked #1 in the nation after 30+ games means more than just being best on paper.

I mean, until the 1990s this is how EVERY college football champion was determined.

If you don't want to recognize that team that's fine. But don't minimize the things they ACTUALLY did accomplish.

We were definitely the "best" team in CBB in 19-20. Unfortunately college basketball didn't get to crown a narional champion due to covid. And the NCAA chose not to pick a champion based on media and coaches voting.

I do wish that entire team would have returned to handle their unfinished business. Which was an option.

You did. You said we looked best on paper. Ignoring the 31 games we actually played in which we looked the best.

You remarked that we were A 1 seed, we were going to be the overall #1 seed, and were ranked #1.

You tried to downplay our accomplishments, like you always do. You always gotta be the fun killing devil's advocate.

It's like saying last years team won >20 games, and then I get mad because they won 34 and a national title...and then you're like, hey man, I'm giving them credit, they did win >20 games after all.

Being the overall #1 seed is not how national champions are crowned in CBB.

You really struggle when people don't agree with your OPINIONS.

Also PhD: I have been one of this year's teams biggest advocates. It's been others killing the fun. Which you seem to take no issue with. And I'm not the only 1 who has that opinion about 19-20.

This. Hanging a banner for it puts us in the KSU echelon. No thanks. We have actual titles that we can claim. Make a nice section in AFH dedicated to the lost tourney of 2020 and that team and call it good.

Like I said, I'd be 100% good with not claiming those to be anything like an NCAA title.

All I'm saying is that, if we claim those, we might as well claim being the mythical 2019-20 national champions. As was pointed out elsewhere in the thread, schools do that for pre-BCS football "championships" all the time.

good grief. That was the method of crowning a champion (retroactively or not) that was recognized at the time.

We shouldn't add anything for 2020. We were robbed and the tournament shouldve been held.


Also odd that the guy that wants college sports to be pro sports and AFH to be a glitzy spiffy mall.....somehow doesn't want banners from 1922 and 1923 because.......what? they ruin the integrity of the game....or they were bought or what? laughable.

Kansas was no. 1 after the final game of the 2020 season. The season happened.

but the tournament did not.....and no champion was crowned via the recognized method of today.

it was a terrific season, one we had as good a shot to win as anytime in my lifetime. But....it didn't happen....it should've, but it didnt.

Helms was all there was back then. There was no post-season tournament til 1939.

right...which is why the comparison is apples and oranges

I'm totally fine recognizing the team somehow, they were robbed, but, it happens. Just not with a banner or anything else claiming a "Championship".
