So could, I dunno, Creighton.
Come on.
I don't think Creighton is capable of winning a national title this year.
That's like saying KState could win the national title this year.
Maybe that quality of team is your threshold for contender.

The team last season that scared me was Arizona, they had nba talent at several positions, a couple 7 footers, and were just big skilled athletic at every position. I dont think last years team would've beat them. We didn't have to play them.
One game at a time boys. All that matters is being better than 1 team on that particular night, 6 times.
This team can do that

Duke feels like one of those sleeper teams this year. Couple 7fters. NBA talent at several positions.
Not sure I believe they can win it all, though.

Theres probably 20ish teams that are "capable" of advancing and maybe winning a title. The big 12 has 6 teams that are probably in that group, including the kitties
Id welcome a match up with k state late in the tournament, because that's a good match up for KU

Teams I think can win the national title:
Houston, Bama, Kansas, Purdue, ucla, zona, Marquette, uconn, Gonzaga, texas, baylor, duke.
I'll be shocked if it is someone other than 1 of those 12.
But agree 20 or 30 teams could make deep runs. But don't think 20 or 30 can win it all.

Duke is going to be a shitty draw for someone, they are going to be seeded lower than the talent level. Not sure where they will be seeded? But let's say 8/9... that would be shitty to be the 1 seed and have a potential 2nd round match up like that

I think duke will be more like a 4 or 5 seed.

UConn won it in 09 and was not good.
Creighton could win it.
Extremely unlikely.

Creighton's better than that UConn team.
I'm stunned they're not better this year. Their starting five is so damn good.
Not your actual point, I know

Uconn was 2011 and had Kemba Walker a consenus AA.
Creighton has only made the sweet 16 in 4 seasons. Ever. 1 elite 8. Ever.
I don't think they are capable of winning it all. I think their ceiling is the elite 8. Which would be their first since 1941 and a fantastic season for a program of that caliber.

I got the years wrong obviously. 09 was Carolina.
2014, going into that tournament, 7th seeded UConn was 30th in Kenpom, 99th in adjO.
They are very much an outlier but this Creighton is better than they were.

"Expert picks" on various bracket websites are all over the place this year, I saw one that had Creighton beating KU in the NCG...

There's no ceiling, just odds. To say their ceiling is the elite 8 is ridiculous when you consider the far worse teams that have made final fours.
Yeah, year is way off, I was thinking the Shabazz Napier UConn team.
