I think the universal feeling that Michigan got a brutal semifinal matchup is just further evidence that Bama should be in. Everyone thinks they’re one of the 4 best teams in the country right now—maybe THE best—which is the committee’s stated criterion.

Not trying to be an asshole. I really was asking because I have seen a few people make the case that ANY undefeated FBS team should get their shot at the title.

But if we’re just arguing about where the line is for keeping out an undefeated team, fair enough. Like I said, I think FSU has a good argument. I just think Bama and Texas are stronger choices, given the stated “best 4 teams” rationale. I also think UGA and maybe OSU would be better choices at this point.

Just for kicks I decided to see what vegas thinks of this mess.

UGA -13.5 FSU
UT-4.5 UW
Mich-1.5 Bama

Would have been funny if Bama was favored.
Thinking Vegas likes UGA.

Remember by the seeds FSU and UW should be favored and Mich should be favored the most.

I fully understand the oddsmakers had to make lines right away but in the 2023/2024 Bowl game world, it's a total crap shoot - in regards to making the lines not knowing who will play in the game/s or not. Now that the lines are out, unless someone has a shit load of time to keep track and is a solid analyst, they are doing little more than making uneducated guesses on the games.

P.S. I find it amusing that a Louisville team that basically couldn't score against FSU is playing a USC team that has a horse shit defense. How do you come up with an o/u on that game? Will be interesting to see if Williams plays for USC.

The early lines are the best indicator of season performance. The later lines will reflect the portal/draft.

Finally ran into a scenario where there were more than 4 teams that had a good case for the 4 spots. Thankfully they open it up to 12 spots next year.

There will be bitching next year, no doubt. Probably more than most years (this year obviously excluded), as there will be more teams vieing for that last spot, at least in theory. A decent chance KU is in contention next year (all things trending the way they have). Pretty exciting to think about, and also a situation where I'm telling myself to cool my jets as a fan.

"Want" but that isn't always what happens. Last year you had 2 Big 10 Teams and the year before you had 2 SEC teams.

5th, 6th and 7th last year were two more SEC teams that didn't even play in their conference title game and a Big Ten team that also didn't play in their conference title game.
