Some people are just slobs and profusely sweat and don't clean up the equipment. I couldn't take it anymore, so I quit going. When COVID hit, I bought a used treadmill from my younger brother and a bowflex and some dumbbells.
Love going downstairs to get a quick workout whenever I want and don't have to clean up after other people.
Prices have also gone completely bonkers. They are now selling a "lifestyle" and not just a gym. I agree with making fun of that concept, but the branding is outrageously effective.

I do enjoy a light jog outdoors (weather permitting), but it's also harder on my knees and feet, so I generally use the treadmill.
I use an elliptical machine to minimize the damage to knees and ankles. Fucked up the left ankle years ago so running usually leads to a miserable next day.

Oh hell yes. I used to go to City Gym in Waldo and I think it was around $50/month at first. Now I believe it's around $80-$90/month, which is ridiculous since I was only going a few days a week.

Well were I live in Brookside, most but not all the sidewalks suck, meaning they are either broken up, or bulging up due to tree roots. I've hit a few of those while jogging outside and it's like playing russian roulette. Even jogging in the side streets can be dangerous if you step in a pothole...lol. I generally jog now on the Trolley trail.

depends on the topic, and where the difference is, but sometimes such action is warranted, imo

I don't agree - though I do what i'm talking against sometimes ( more often than I should ) but try not to.
It may make you feel good but it does nothing to change/help the situation.

and i generally agree with the second part, but...

there are instances, imo, where calling a spade a spade is warranted, and may in fact be the only way to elicit any sort of change (or at introspection)

I'm not sure if that is in fact the only way - and i'd argue it has a greater chance at reinforcing.
My saying Cascadia is an asshole because I think he is isn't going to help the situation.
I'm just making the situation worse.

actually, in your scenario i don’t think your response is changing the situation for better or worse

It makes it worse because it limits the chance at a future conversation/bringing someone to the table.

If Biden got on the mic and said, "fuck all you white trash bigots who voted for Trump," do you think that would make the situation better or worse?

absolutely it would...and that’s why i fully admitted that i generally agree with you

do you really think calling cascadia an asshole is gonna change anything? i think his skin is thicker than that, but maybe i’m wrong

i have no issue calling white nationalists racists

i have no issue calling the jan 6 right-wing extremists insurrectionists

there are instances where it’s warranted

"do you really think calling cascadia an asshole is gonna change anything?"

It's not going to help and likely will now cause him to act more like an asshole to me.

"i have no issue calling white nationalists racists"

Neither do I. But if you were in a room with a white nationalist and actually wanted to make any sort of progress, that wouldn't be the best method to get a conversation started.

Or if you were in a room full of white people who aren't white nationalists and started labeling them racist white nationalists.

Yes.

if they are white, and very obviously racist, i’ll have zero reservations about calling them out (presuming they’re not armed or anything silly like)...or at the very least call out their racist tendencies

better to be anti-racism than just not racist yourself

As a generalization I agree, but not in the way that Cascadia just calls people racist because he disagrees with them but isn't smart enough to know why.

"and very obviously racist, i’ll have zero reservations about calling them out"

And I, like Mjl above, generally agree ( though it shouldn't matter if they are white - rather if they are very obviously racist ).

But the issue of 'very obviously racist' can be subjective term.
What is very obviously racist to you may not be to someone else.
And this statement != pdub defends racists.

right, which is why i provided the caveat in my original comment

there are situations where it is warranted, there are others where it isn’t

Who have I called a racist?

Bob Strawn = Yes
MICHHAWK = Yes
Lobster = Yes
Tdub = Yes

search.php?keywords=racist&terms=all&au ... mit=Search

The 1st three are no doubt about it (and proud to be) racists.

I don't really think Tdub is a racist.
