Ya we do.
But the cynical side of me thinks it wouldn't take long for the leaders of that hypothetical "people's party" to be in the pockets of the "major corporations".
Ya we do.
Healthcare has three major components: quality of care, access and cost. Unfortunately there is no good way to get all three. In most civilized countries they have optimized for the quality and cost with some sacrifices to access (eg. you have to wait a bit to get a miniscus tear fixed). Germany has a similar system to the one you suggest but not with schlock doctors.NewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 12, 2020 8:33 am Hear me out on healthcare thing. I think US should have a system similar to Hong Kong. Healthcare provided by government at little to no cost, but you get basic doctors that graduate from a weaker med school like equivalent to kstate and basic coverages. You then pay for additional coverage through private sector if you want high end hospitals, doctors that graduate from KUMed, treatments, etc.
That way people are covered, but then you still have free market healthcare for those that want to pay extra and have extra stuff. No straight socialism, no straight capitalism. Take both and morph it into one big plan.
Fear mongering is a tried and true political tactic.TraditionKU wrote: ↑Mon Oct 12, 2020 11:59 am wait, i thought biden/harris was doing the bid if the radical left?
you guys should solidify your fear mongering into a single coherent message...it’d be much more successful
Agreed that the fear mongering is used as a tactic by both sides. There were Republican Senators on TV today that said every single on of them wants health care for everyone and for all preexisting conditions to be covered. And i agree that they should.....but not by traditional insurance companies and private health insurance plans.Walrus wrote: ↑Mon Oct 12, 2020 2:15 pm I agree that fear mongering exists, but some of these things you mention are actually happening. The lockdowns are set to go forward into 2021 in California (stupid idea), and at least some parts of California have proposed defunding the police. They are not proposing to defund all police, but any kind of reduction is a terrible idea right now with all these riots going on. Right now, Harris is trying to use fear mongering to tell them that their health care is going away, despite no evidence of anything changing. She's telling us "you cannot take away people's health care at a time like this..." but yet she supports massive tax increases in a time like this.
The fear mongering is because the Republicans all say they will do something for pre existing conditions to make sure EVERYONE has affordable healthcare.TraditionKU wrote: ↑Mon Oct 12, 2020 2:26 pm lol...the admin is currently fighting to overturn the ACA and it’s coverage for pre-existing conditions
that isn’t fear mongering, dipshit
