who ya got?
Re: who ya got?
I would be all for a public option, medicare for all type of system like the UK has. That would be a much better use of our tax money than wasting it on wars and weapons. The only thing that concerns me though is that government-run care has already shown to not work all that well, at least in regards to medicaid. Still, we all recognize the current path we are on is a disaster.

What’s wrong with Medicaid?
To date it’s still the most affordable, most comprehensive, and overall best health insurance I’ve had.

Re: who ya got?
Yup. Which isn't what the supreme court is. Or at least not what it is supposed to be. It is not a legislative body that law makers seem to want it to be.TraditionKU wrote: ↑Mon Oct 12, 2020 3:27 pm and there’s the rub, illy
they don’t have a better plan, and never have. so, they’re relying on the SCOTUS to legislate for them
Re: who ya got?
Knowing some people in private practice, they have told me, they don't get paid on time, and in many cases, not at all. That is why some people in private practice will not accept it.

I also assume at Ousdahl's age (and mine fwiw) some of the downside of medicaid were not as noticeable since he/we are young and assuming relatively healthy individuals who don't see a doctor very frequently.
Now i am paying 3x or 4x as much for something i never even use. At least i have had 2 kids to get some benefits out of all my money, and my kids have regular childhood checkups, and my wife has yearly checkups.....otherwise i would be paying for something i literally don't use yet.

In an outrage similar to that of Inigo Montoya as he thrusts sword into Count Rugen: you mean like how I pay for all those tanks, fighter jets and aircraft carriers I literally never use? Give me back all the money I have paid into the military industrial complex and I will gladly fund medical care for my fellow citizens.IllinoisJayhawk wrote: ↑Mon Oct 12, 2020 4:49 pm Now i am paying 3x or 4x as much for something i never even use. I would gladly trust government bureaucrats with my healthcare than stooges of the private insurance criminal syndicates.
Re: who ya got?
Lots of good points.
My dad used to be all like why should i pay for NPR when I don’t even listen to it? and I’d be like I don’t want to pay to bomb Iraq either.
My dad would also vilify the gummint too, and harp on about how the private market is so much better at everything. Meanwhile, private market health insurance is taking us to the cleaners.
I wonder how much of my monthly premium goes toward some CEO’s vacation homes?

Private health market isn't perfect...but for mostly healthy people it is better than what we have right now.ousdahl wrote: ↑Mon Oct 12, 2020 7:44 pm Lots of good points.

And there are plenty of healthcare issues in countries that have government funded healthcare.
I think we could/should figure out a way to blend the 2 in a way that maximizes the benefit for all of us, but doesn't reduce quality of care and increase wait times/etc.
With all the time our legislators sit around doing next to nothing arguing, you'd think/hope we could get some smarter people in there to figure this shit out in a better way than it currently is working.
Re: who ya got?
Ya i think we have plenty of waste on military spending too....but i also think a lot of it is needed to help keep us safe and also keep other parts of the world safe.zsn wrote: ↑Mon Oct 12, 2020 7:12 pmIn an outrage similar to that of Inigo Montoya as he thrusts sword into Count Rugen: you mean like how I pay for all those tanks, fighter jets and aircraft carriers I literally never use? Re: who ya got?
mitch and Amy had their debate tonight. mitch was visibly pissed. Amy kept her cool but did not attack as hard as I had hoped.
mitch's main point was that if Amy is elected, she will vote for Schumer as Senate Majority Leader. Called him a con man from New York. Amy should have reminded him where DDD is from.
Amy hit hard on coal country. Saying mitch should have approved new infrastructure in Eastern KY including high speed internet, water and sewers, and the Reclaim Act to create good jobs to clean up big coal's mess.

That would get edited out of a villain shot in Austin Powers as being too over-the-top.

Re: who ya got?
I have continued counting and am up to 31 Biden signs, 0 Trump. That's anecdotal of course, but it's just wild.
The Lobsters and common right wingers of the country attacking Biden for wanting to raise taxes on the upper class - it's odd. The upper class seems to disagree.
Re: who ya got?
Trump had started stupid trade wars, blockaded Qatar, assassinated aN Iranian citizen which ended in missile launches, gave China permission to commit genocide, has allowed Russia to consolidate its invasion in Ukraine and Crimea, has tried to destabilize NATO, has been caught in a proxy war in Venezuela, basically bowed to Russia in Syria and the Middle East; moved the American Israeli embassy to Jerusalem doing untold harm to any peace settlement with Palestine. Fed MBS information leading to the torture and killing within Saudi Arabia and was complicit in the Khashoggi murder. And Putin’s nerve agent attacks against his political enemies. Peacenik Trump.IllinoisJayhawk wrote: ↑Mon Oct 12, 2020 8:05 pmYa i think we have plenty of waste on military spending too....but i also think a lot of it is needed to help keep us safe and also keep other parts of the world safe.zsn wrote: ↑Mon Oct 12, 2020 7:12 pmIn an outrage similar to that of Inigo Montoya as he thrusts sword into Count Rugen: you mean like how I pay for all those tanks, fighter jets and aircraft carriers I literally never use? Re: who ya got?
The Iranian citizen he had assassinated was a fucking terrorist. He deserved to die.
Some of the other stuff you mentioned is true....but some is also LOL worthy.
