so I went to the doctor back in October.
I’m still randomly getting bills for every little thing, even with insurance.
This is legit, right? Just another feature of a for-profit healthcare system, right?
Or should I raise a fuss?

i’d be paying careful attention
we’ve been double-billed (or even triple in some instances) due to “clerical errors”

Is there a best way to confirm whether it’s a double bill?
Just call them and ask to make sure they haven’t already billed me once?

i take it you don’t keep those sorts of records filed away, so you should be able to check your bank records for payments to them for that amount

Ah.
Actually I do keep these sorts of docs around. This would be the first such bill I got for this particular test, and they already billed my insurance for most of it. So in that regard, maybe it’s legit.
Since they took 4 months to bill me tho, maybe I’ll take 4 months to get back to them too. There’s no due date otherwise?
There is, however, an important notice. It’s in all caps on the bill, so it seems legit considering my doctor is blackmild:
WE UNDERSTAND OUR PATIENTS MAY BE FACING UNEXPECTED FINANCIAL HARDSHIPS. YOU NEED ASSISTANCE WITH YOUR BILL, PLEASE CALL.
Wtf is even that?

This is them indicating that they want to work with the patient directly on a payment plan and not send it to collections--which they will do if they feel they have no other choice.
A little over 5 years ago, I was sent to collections by a provider over about $500. "Well why didn't you pay your bill?" That would be because the healthcare provider never sent me a single bill. Next thing I know I am in collections, with a negative credit mark squarely on the line.

It's the worst. Between Mrs. Fish and kids (and myself obviously), the volume of mail is overwhelming, and the consequences of missing a medical bill (which ALL look duplicative of old bills) are nuts. There should be some dollar threshold (or even service of process or something) before it hits your credit.

20 million dollar horse race (The Saudi Cup) in Saudi Arabia.
#4 horse Emblem Road went off at over 99-1 odds and won the race.
Might be the biggest upset in a race of that magnitude.
I bet a grand total of $1 on the horse to place. Got back $33. Horse paid $229 on a $2 win bet.
