I think the school cleared him, not the ncaa.

“I was thinking last night on this Smart thing,” Wade is heard saying on the wiretap. “I’ll be honest with you, I’m [expletive] tired of dealing with the thing. Like I’m just [expletive] sick of dealing with the [expletive]. Like, this should not be that [expletive] complicated.”
“Dude,” Wade continued to Dawkins, referring to the third party involved in the recruitment, “I went to him with a [expletive] strong-ass offer about a month ago. [Expletive] strong.
“The problem was, I know why he didn’t take it now, it was [expletive] tilted toward the family a little bit,” Wade continued. “It was tilted toward taking care of the mom, taking care of the kid. Like it was tilted towards that. Now I know for a fact he didn’t explain everything to the mom. I know now, he didn’t get enough of the piece of the pie in the deal.”
Dawkins responded by saying, “Hmmmm.”
“It was a [expletive] hell of a [expletive] offer,” Wade continued. “Hell of an offer.”
“OK,” Dawkins said.
“Especially for a kid who is going to be a two- or three-year kid,” Wade said."

Re: F the NCAA
There has to be more to the story (as far as Smart playing today) than is public. It makes NO goddamned sense that he's fine to play, but Silvio has a two-year suspension sitting on him.
Re: F the NCAA
the NCAA was involved in the inquiry, I don't think they made a ruling, LSU did.
Maybe LSU did it with the ncaa's blessing, but I don't think the ncaa said anything official, if I'm not mistaken.

Re: F the NCAA
I would very much like to visit, like, June 2021 in the alternate universe where we'd just played Silvio this year without making a big deal out of it.
Re: F the NCAA
honestly, I think 100% that would've been the best strategy.

Hindsight, yes. Which shows how completely fucked up this shit is.
Re: F the NCAA
KU was like a boyfriend who got caught by his girlfriend in a suspicious situation with another woman and then was like "are you sure you're not mad, you're sure everything is ok right, you sure? you're not mad at me?..."
And every other team was like "pffft, don't worry about it" and moved on.

Yes, and I'll go back to stating it was disappointing that Self did the whole "there's nothing I can do" speech.
Play Silvio, play Zion, play Smart, play Ayton.

More specifically: with the knowledge (in hindsight) that self-policing and self-reporting is actually worse than denying, delaying and obfuscating, yes.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2019 12:35 pm Hindsight, yes. Which shows how completely fucked up this shit is.

Deny, deny, deny
