He hasn't played in college yet.
He may find it more challenging than high school. Grimes probably wasn't rushed or flustered much in high school, either. I hope Braun is the scrapper everyone is talking him up to be. Sounds like he will get some chances here and there.

Time to start learning what the new guy's numbers and what they look like.

they commented during the game. saying they beleive he can play in these exhibition games and still redshirt. Ochai played in the exhibition games last season and still redshirted(then didn't)

the mentioned a lack of clarity of it being different for freshman and upperclassmen but idk

Ya I heard them mention it, but I still think they might be wrong (ochai was a freshman). Article on .Com referenced holding him out until Duke game while they decided for sure but after watching tonight we're going to need him plenty. SDS Dok and DMc all will foul a lot because we're going to be aggressive blocking shots and protecting the paint.

Think we would be fine redshirting him. DOK SDS and big mac are gonna play 80/90 percent of the 4/5 with or without mitch. Jalen Wilson and Enaranu and big enough and versatile enough to spot us minutes at the 4. hell even marcus garett has done it in the past.

Dont be surprised to see Dotson Moss Agbaji and Garett all on the floor together. situationally. end of games. whenever the hell bill feels like it. he likes those skilled versatile guard lineups

Sounds like Self is going to roll this out there most nights...

Dotson
Garrett
Agbaji
DeSousa
Azubuike

I expect the 3 main cogs off the bench to be: Moss, McCormack, and a sprinkling of Braun and Wilson.

Hopefully somebody outperforms Garrett and takes his starting spot.

I know you don't watch preseason because it means less than nothing, but he looked pretty solid on both ends yesterday...and I'm not a huge Garrett fan.

I think Garrett is going to play 30 minutes a night and be All BigXII 2nd team.

Easy there.

He’ll be a a good glue guy. And a guy KU needs almost every night. But he won’t be a top 10 Big 12 player.

I could see him making 3rd or honorable mention.
He'll be on the all B12 d team ( we could have a few guys on there ).

Why the garrett hate? one of our best players this year. one of the best defenders in college basketball. gonna be very dependable. good at getting to the rim. his jump shot looks much improved. 4/7 from 3 on thursday

Shooting is a huge part of basketball and he's not good at it.
If he's found a shot that will make defenses at least respect him ( instead of let him alone from 16 feet out ) he'll play all the minutes he can handle.

Yeah, I'm counting on him being a 33% 3 point shooter. Not necessarily likely, but by no means outside the realm of possibility.

If he can up to even 34-35 he will be effective because of all the other things he does well.
