If someone will give value, yes. It took what to get Zobrist...one really good prospect and one middling one? I think that sounds about right.

Keep seeing Staumont's name up there a lot. They better get the damn farm for him. Pre-Arb until 2023. Then Arb from 2023-2026, then a FA. Only 26. They better get some a couple of decent prospects and a MLB ready player for him. The Royals have absolutely no reason to get rid of him unless they get something big.

Now like Holland can go for a mid-level prospect, but Staumont will be THE GUY for the next 5+ years in this bullpen.

If someone gives you two high-level prospects for him, of course you take it. He's exactly the sort of guy you move - unfortunately you really don't need an elite guy back there for another year or two anyway, and his track record (and the fact of being a pitcher) suggests it could all go
poof for him at any moment.

These guys are unwatchable. No support from the batters, and it is taking its toll. When Gordon was on third and that guy struck out for the third out Gordon just through up his hands.

Great game last night. The play at the plate was the defensive play of the year so far. McBroom with the go ahead single and stupidly heading to second was not ideal, but aggressive.

Even without fans, the road games sting. The Royals lose a lot of check swing appeals, and the home TV crews never show a replay. Bad homerism

Missed because it was going on during the Chiefs game, Brady Singer threw 7.2 innings of no-hit baseball.

Alex Gordon retiring.
Great Royals career, got himself a ring.
"Gordon, 36, was selected by the Royals with the No. 2 overall draft pick in 2005 and has spent his entire 14-year career with Kansas City.
After starting his career primarily as a third baseman, Gordon shifted to left field and became one of baseball's top defenders at the position, winning seven Gold Gloves over a nine-year stretch from 2011 to 2019.
Gordon also was one of the leaders on Kansas City's World Series-winning team in 2015. He belted a game-tying home run in the ninth inning of Game 1, which Kansas City ultimately won in 14 innings."

Obvious caveats apply, but: Alex sure seems like the kind of guy you want your daughter to marry. Just like Alex Smith.

Glad this saga is over. I’ll always choose to remember the best parts of his career. That flag doesn’t fly without him for reasons on and off the field.

One of my favorites, had his struggles with injuries at times, but always had the heart. I own only one MLB Royals authentic jersey and it's Gordons. I knew Moose and Hosmer would always leave, so Gordo was my choice. He'll be coaching for the Royals at some point.

I respect most the career arc. Do you know how goddamned hard it's got to be to the golden child, can't-miss, next George Brett...and then miss...and then become a damn fine big leaguer (and a champion) to boot?
