Noah Lyles. Good for him! NOT funny how the announcers, it seemed many if not most in the crowd, AND LYLES, thought he lost the race. I understand it's torso and not foot but I feel it should be whoever's whatever body part crosses the line first should be the winner. If that was the case, I don't know if Thompson's head or foot crossed before Lyles' torso. Heck, Kerley's foot may have crossed the line first.
Then you have the clock factor. How the heck does a clock determine who won?

if it were any body part people would be diving towards the finish

if they allowed hands or feet, how would you justify that for those that just have longer appendages?

torso/chest seems the most fair to me
Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

Same. Although I had no idea that was the rule until yesterday.

Remember finish lines that had break tapes/ribbons/whatever you want to call them? ;)
The reason why they are typically at "torso" level is......
I don't know if I feel it's the most fair or not but it's probably the least controversial.
P.S. They do have break tapes/ribbons/whatever you want to call them at the finish lines of the Olympic Marathons. Why?

KC native Quincy Hall had an amazing comeback to win the 400m Gold. This interview with his brother is fantastic.

That dude was digging deep. You don't see guys close that gap like that down the stretch, very cool! Happy for him, his family and his community.

0-4?
really?
Our U23 team is only decent much like the regular USMNT squad.
Morocco actually beat the U23 favorite Argentina in the opening rounds.
Certainly shouldn't loose 4-0 though...but a loss was expected ( Morocco were significant favorites by the books ).
Morocco narrowly lost to Spain in the semis and now is thumping Egypt in the bronze medal match, 5-0.

Watching these Olympics, it's an effort not to make a positive association between speed and physical attractiveness in the female sprinters.

I’m muting my opinions about the Olympics in general, but I’ll be glad when they are over.

Text message from my 65 year old sister.....

FYI yesterday I watched the women’s Olympic breaking finals. Really amazing. And fun. Today is the men’s. Catch it if you can.
Apparently it won’t be in next Olympics.

I was gentle with my reply.

Both of my girls have been dancers so we watch "So You think You Can Dance" every season. They have had dozens of breakers that have been better than anyone I saw in that shitshow. No athletic activity that has 100% subjective judging should be in the Olympics.

Lots of good US performances today. Bummed that KU's Bryce Hoppel didn't get on the podium despite running a personal best time in his 800M final. Settling in for the Team USA Men's basketball final.

Quincy Wilson. I'll say it. I'm not so sure I feel he deserves Gold.
