So far today the elite have looked down their nose at car shows and going to Home Depot.

And it’s barely noon.

I know, right? We need to weld people inside their apartment buildings like they did in China, because that fixed everything!

Plus, it's Trump's fault!

RIGHT! Because everyone on here is saying people should/need to confine themselves to their homes.
What is PARTIALLY Trump's fault is people having a "fuck you attitude" in regards to safety and well being of others. I know, you don't have a problem with it. I do, and I feel anyone with a moral conscious should.
On a related side note, I'm not a religious guy but those who are and don't give a fuck about infecting others seem to be major hypocrites to me. "Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself".
You have a right to your opinion. Not all of us choose to live in fear. Some of us are choosing to live our lives and try to provide for ourselves, while others are choosing to live in a cage of fear and depend on the government to take care of them. It is a choice either way, and I’m thankful to have it.

I've been outside nearly every day the last 2 months. No white trash car shows, though.
And that’s what it really boils down to, isn’t it? They are people that you feel superior to as human beings. They are beneath you; they elected a President you despise; they watch TV shows and listen to music you dislike; they go to churches you disagree with, and they carry firearms. Hence, they are the problem and must be controlled so that they will conform to your standards.

It’s exactly like the Founding Fathers wrote it in the Declaration of Independence, right?
I must have overlooked "recreationally congregate in a shuttered big-box retailer parking lot during a global motherfucking pandemic" in the bill of rights.
I’m no lawyer, but I would think that is covered under the right to peaceable assembly.

If a thousand treehuggers in close proximity lined up to talk to plants, praise Bernie Sanders, and drink pink wine in an abandoned Whole Foods parking lot--I'd find it just as unneccesary, selfish, and dumb of behavior at whatever the hell that was in Independence 2 days ago.

I respect those who are not fearful, as long as they have an ounce of respect and compassion for those who are fearful. I never wore a seatbelt when I was younger. I was a "rebel". Didn't think I looked cool wearing a seatbelt. I was (and still am in many other ways) stupid.
Whenever my mother was in the car with me she begged me to wear a seatbelt and would get me with the - "I'm your mother and I love you, there is nothing worse than burying a child".
I put my seatbelt on to alleviate her fear. What a huge fucking sacrifice that was for me to make. Right?

I admit I don't have a ton of faith in the gummint, but I at least have enough faith to think a pandemic-induced lockdown is really cuz of a pandemic, and not some back door deep state move against our constitutional rights.

beaverfever (and at least one other friend who I might otherwise try to spend more social distance time with) keep using the word fear, and using it in the context along the lines of LIBERTY OVER FEAR BRO!

My response is, do you really see no difference between fear and caution? Or fear, and basic common sense?

And when they have no good response, I suggest they stop wearing their seat belts, and bike helmets, and PFDs on a boat, and why bother cooking raw meat to the appropriate temp, and who needs condoms, and don't bother with the safety on yall's firearms, because liberty over fear bro, right?

oh wait, with those examples you can see some difference between fear, and common sense? Yet you can't see the difference as it pertains to a PANDEMIC??

regarding the whole idea of gummint to take care of me, I don't. Right now I'm way tempted to spend the summer mostly off-grid, eating foraged plants and trout cooked over a campfire. It's something I've wanted to do for a while anyway, but now with added reason.

What a stupid way to interpret what's been said.

No one is looking down on "car shows".

That picture, though, is an example of exactly the kind of idiotic behavior that supports harsh, restrictive measures. In other words, you should perceive stupid fucking conduct like that as threatening your rights, not advancing them.

Before the virus really took off, I was of the opinion that stay-at-home orders were too much and felt we would all be able to navigate it given how other countries weathered the virus in January/February, some with and some without stay-at-home orders.

Then, the spring break pics started coming out and even top officials were saying masks were completely unnecessary.

Is that typical of car shows there, because we stopped by a couple of them when our next door neighbor was showing his early model T-Bird and I never saw any crowds like that.

Wuhan To Test All 11 Million Residents After New Coronavirus Cases Emerge

https://www.npr.org/sections/coronaviru ... iveupdates

So by the numbers, one city will administer more tests in 10 days than all of Merica did in 2 months

Huh?

I mean, I would like Merica to be head-and-shoulders ahead of everyone else by every metric possible by now, but apparently that’s too much to ask of our country any more.
