yea
but that was before mjl dismissed an entire dialogue on "false premise" terms, then advanced his own narrative on premises like "capitalism gives more economic decision making to the people than any", that alternatives seem to assume people are not greedy and power-hungry, "Capitalism is the only system that can keep that in check at all." And, despite any real substantive explanation or examples (or exceptions) to these premises, they're all supposed to be taken as true. Like complex economic observations can be oversimplified to, and should be understood as, some true-or-false premises.
lulz
but let's try for honest dialogue here: if there are "rules," then why do capitalists rail so hard against them? you know, all the "JoB KiLlInG ReGuLaTiOnS" rhetoric.
and if "there is no such thing as pure capitalism," then why argue so doggedly in favor of capitalism?
he gave more specifics and back up to his thoughts than any post you've made on the subject.....or any subject on the poli board....
I mean I know he didn't include a provocative tweet and ask an open ended question....but..

You respond to an honest post with your mindless snark, and take people saying "ok" as a personal attack. What the fuck is wrong with you?

It pisses me off because he doesn't even care if his points are true. It's about using rhetorical bullshit to try to confirm preconceived notions. Now I am convinced it's intentional. I thought before he was well intentioned, but I see that was wrong.

oh forgive me. I wasn't trying to be too snarky, nor mindless.
you realize I was just quoting your own words, right?
you're allowed to speak with authority on these matters (but not professors in the field), yet when those EXACT SAME WORDS are quoted by me, it's mindless snark.
but let's try to stick to the honest post, shall we? Could you provide any evidence or examples to support your insights?

and fwiw I'm not trying to piss anyone off. I'll try to not be so snarky, nor mindless.
I'm questioning entire systems here. Of course there's bound to be a little pushback.
but it's just a message bored, and I've been there too. If we're to the point of getting pissed, let's just step back and cool off with an iced tea or something.

just generally, I wish we could value a broader, less concentrated, more
democratic distribution of power and decision-making in economic matters, just like we value so dearly in political matters.
hopefully that's a good enough elevator pitch of an answer for now.

ok, sorry, the onion comment may have been too snarky.
but for real dude, go re-read your post. Would you really say shit like that like, in front of a college classroom? As a rebuttal to a professor's lecture? And when asked for evidence or examples, just huff and puff all pissed about how it's EVERYONE ELSE who don't care whether points are true, and using rhetorical bullshit to try to confirm preconceived notions?
Or could I just kindly ask again for some evidence or examples in support or your points?
clarify how capitalism gives the most economic decision making to the most people
or how alternatives to capitalism operate on the assumption that humans are not greedy and power-hungry
or how capitalism is the only system that can keep that in check at all
Please?

I asked you a question....you didn't answer it.
Then you turn around and say I didn't answer it......my own question? I'm not the one railing against capitalism...why would I answer my own question that was directed at you??!?
and you wonder why people get frustrated attempting to talk to you. Its a goddamn pointless endeavor.

unless of course you're saying that your non-answer is the answer...in which case its even more of a pointless conversation. If you can't elaborate on the specific system that you want to employ how can we even begin to have a discussion about it? Are we supposed to just roll into the smoke filled fantastical world youve created in your head and say yes thats awesome...do it? How? what does that look like?
