These are the two that need the most tweaking. Would like to see the home and away series increased to 3 or 4.

With 13 non conference games, I don't think it's unreasonable to want half of them to be quality opponents.

But, clearly we like different things. I have no interest in these trash games.
It doesn't matter what you or I like. Self doesn't send me a questionnaire asking my preferences so what I prefer is irrelevant. It matters only what Self feels is the best way to develop the roster that he has each season. My guess is that with an entirely new roster he chose to lighten it up a bit and I'd also guess that it can be a challenge to find a bunch of really good teams who want to take an almost automatic L in AFH against a coach who also wins a huge majority of his ranked road games.
There's also more to the schedule than "which small school can we pay to come get blown out?" Stony Brook is picked to win their conference by a lot of people. Stephen F Austin is picked 1 or 2 in the WAC depending which preseason ranking you want to look at. Harvard is a favorite to win the Ivy. UTEP is the only opponent that isn't considered a team that could make the NCAA.

Self has said in the past he likes to schedule NCAA Tournament like games. That doesn't have to mean Top 25 matchups every time you take the court. It doesn't seem sexy in November, but when you look at the bracket in March and Stony Brook is a 13 seed you can see they probably still got some benefits from that 30 point win. It's not like they are scheduling Mississippi Valley State or Chicago State and winning 115-47.
100% agreed. And seeing that Tarleton State has played a number of good teams close shows that Self isn't just scheduling some cream puff to help out a buddy. KU needs to get a dozen guys some minutes before Big 12 season. You aren't doing that playing 10 non-con games against good P5 teams.

A buddy asked me how Duke was ranked #1. I tried to explain it to him.
I had no problem with their being ranked #1 because I felt no one deserved to be ranked #1 ahead of them. Now..... I'm not so sure Purdue deserves to be ranked #1.
I mean, I would rank them #1 ahead of Baylor but are they really the best team in the country? I don't think so. Now watch them win the NC.

Arizona State 29
It was 18-10 at Halftime.
Hurley was 11-14 last season.
He's 2-6 this season.
I believe this is his 7th season at ASU and he is yet to win a tournament game.
Anyone else predict he's gone after this season? Or before the end of the season?

Does Arizona State have any sort of expectations of a winning basketball program? They have only made 5 of the last 25 tourneys and won just 2 games in those five appearances.

That's a very good question. I suppose they have never really been an above "good" program. At least in my lifetime.

If he survives this then it probably means they have no major donors who are crabbing about what they are getting for their investment.

Yeah, we happened to schedule a home and away series with the squad that made 2 of those 5 tourney appearances.

Sorry if this has been posted and I missed it.

I think it's kind of nuts but hey, that's one of the many reasons why I am not an NCAA Coach.

Wonder what's going on. It's a very weird time to part ways, so perhaps it was mutual and Turg has some things he wants to take care of. On the other hand, these things are almost never mutual. Not a lot of people walk away from a multimillion dollar job.

Apparently it was Turg’s call according to Jeff Goodman.

Wonder if Turg went to Maryland with something. Maryland tried to get him to stick around. Turg said no. I’ll either quit and make you all look bad or we can mutually part ways.
