Dayton hit several off balance shots and turned in an incredibly lucky performance all day. KU basically pissed away its advantages and Self stuck with players with no offensive upside who should have been benched. Kansas should have taken at least one more shot today. Never let the other team control the ballgame on the last possession.

Obviously, any individual play can make the difference in a 1 point game. Bottom line to me is that it shouldn't have been this close. Up by 10 at half we should have won by 10-15. Dayton gave better effort in the 2nd half than we did. They came up with many more 50/50 balls and had 14 offensive boards for the game. We had 11 offensive boards but didn't convert very many. Much like last year we are still weak in the paint.

KU was the more talented team but lost because of lack of consistent effort and attention to detail. They will get better.

We were 15pt favorites. Losing that game is unacceptable and concerning. Especially because that was a young inexperienced team we were facing.

It’s concerning to see how quickly we regressed back to playing tight.

That's one of the trademarks of a Self coached team during his time at KU. The tendency to get tighter than normal against shitty teams for really no reason. Dayton isn't even good.

I’m guessing every single blueblood fan base would say this about their team. It’s just how the sport works.
