It's two games.
If DMac would have rightfully gotten the MOP, he'd be in the rafters just because of those two games?
i personally agree, in a sense

but, so many people/fans put an absurd amount of stock in those games so i kinda get it

ousdahl wrote: Fri Mar 29, 2024 8:23 am Only 5 players under Bill Self at KU have made 40+ 3's in a season while shooting 46% or better.
Can you name them?

Chalmers, BIFM…Mclemore?
Chalmers in 2008 is one.
BIFM in 2017 is another.

McLemore shot 42% from 3.

…probably?

Cuz, again, MOPs don’t come around often.

If you’re a player distinguished for playing the best when it mattered most on a championship team, I think that’s something.

But Chalmers had a way better overall career besides just MOP. Dave was kinda mercurial.

I almost wanna say somebody random like Brannen Greene but I think he was in the doghouse too much to ever make 40+ 3s.

I give up?

Brannen is a good guess as he was absolutely scorching ( shooting over 50%! ) in 2016 but he didn't quite hit 40 ( 31 ).

So we have 2 of 5 : Mason and Chalmers.

One of the dudes played with Chalmers.
The second was before he stepped foot on campus.
And the third was soon after.

Wait, no, Mike Lee shot great under Roy, not as much under Self...

But didn't Aaron Miles shoot lights out from three as a senior?

If you round 45.5% up then LaGerald Vick did it in 2019. Tyrel Reed did it in 2010. And Rush did it in 2006.

Yes, Miles hit 40 threes at a 50% clip in 2005.

I'd like to think that shot woulda gone in, we'd head to OT and win.
But Collison had fouled out and Aaron Miles had 4.
None of their dudes were in that level of foul trouble.

That title game was nuts.
Lived on Connecticut street. Had something like 40 people over to watch.
Brought in another tube TV for the kitchen and brought over a bunch of folding chairs.
Radio was on outside on the porch for spill over.

We lost.
Buddy goes into the street with all his empties ( bottles ), lies down and just starts throwing them straight up into the air, cars driving around him, with glass shattering oh so near his face.
Had to drag him outta there.

I had a project I had to finish but was banking on KU winning and class being cancelled the next day.
Went up drunk to try and work on it. Nah.
Got a C in that class I think.

My colleague had posted a “How to Shoot Free Throws” cartoon on my office door when I showed up to work that Tuesday morning.
