Looking back, I didn't realize Dayton was ranked so highly. At least KU is good enough to have a chance to win nearly every year. Dayton may never be that good ever again.

All I have said - and it's not really even a question - is that if you DO claim the Helms titles, you should logically ALSO claim the 2020 thing. Whatever it was.

Because it's the same thing, substantially. There is not a meaningful difference to the reasoning of claiming Helms "titles", and claiming whatever 2020 was.

Yeah that dayton team was awesome. I feel really bad for that team. Obi toppin was the best player in the country that year. KU actually played them in a tournament championship game earl that season (Maui i think) and it went to overtime. One of the best games of the season. 2020 Dayton was special, that school really got fucked

The 4 likely 1 seeds in 2020 were Dayton, Baylor, kansas, and Gonzaga. Baylor brought the same team back and won the 2021 national championship (Scott drewwww lol), obviously KU won last year. Gonzaga ain't winning no title but are consistently good at least

As pointed out by others, the Helms titles were not self-appointed. It's a really bad look to anoint yourself national title, ask a few UCF fans after they join the conference how their self appointed football title is going.

I think it's silly, and small, that we claim the Helms titles. But the logic behind claiming them, and the logic of us treating 2020 the same way as we treat 1922 and 1923, are of a piece.
