Who stays? Who goes? Who comes?
I think elmarko and McDowell are actually going to stay. Stay learn develop and compete. Even if they fall to the back of the rotation next season, dajuan and zeke are only here one year

A walk back like what you had to do with Jackson. Got it
Whatever helps you sleep at night. You're the one coming around to tell us that Clemence is something better than Diet Hunter. I think you're wrong. I think they play extremely similar games, only Clemence is not as good.
My point was maybe he might fit better with the other players. Last years pieces clearly didn't fit too well, so I'm not exactly going out on a limb. I never even made any predictions about role or production. So what exactly am I gonna have to "walk back"?

All I said is, if we don't have hunter, which I don't give a single fuck if he comes back, we might already have an intriguing frontcourt in place with KJ, bidunga, and zach
We don't need to find a better fit with KJ. We need to find a better fit with HD as he is the better player. I would much rather see HD and Clemence out there than KJ and Clemence.

There is almost zero reason for him not to declare and go through workouts. I am guessing he will do so while maintaining eligibility and then make a decision after the combine.

Izzat true?
JFish sort of discussed it a month ago.

It certainly complicates things....but I think in real world application the NIL money is probably just forced to flow a different way. Could be through his parents. Could be through some entity in Australia.

He doesn't do any noticeable NIL that I have seen. Truthfully our guys don't do too much outside of HD and KM that I have come across. Skims and Adidas and JBL audio are the big ones I think.
Here's some color.

Purdue's Zach Edey missing out on profits due to U.S. NIL law

https://www.espn.com/mens-college-baske ... us-nil-law
Since Edey, who is Canadian, is at Purdue on a student visa, he's not legally allowed to make any money through NIL deals that take place in America. However, there are loopholes. For example, he can accept NIL money if the work that led to that money was done elsewhere.

Edey can do NIL deals when he's back home in Canada or when he or Purdue travels internationally. He said Friday he can make money off jersey sales, which he described as passive income.

"It's not like I can go film a commercial in West Lafayette," Edey said.

Edey expressed hope that the law will eventually be revised to allow international players to make money on domestic soil.

"I hope they change it in the future," he said. "I obviously have lost out on a lot of money this year. At the end of the day it needs to change, for sure. I understand kind of the legal process. It takes a while.

[...]

Meanwhile, Purdue coach Matt Painter discussed his feelings about NIL on Friday and the need for deregulation for players punished in the past.

"We have to get some parameters around what we're actually doing and what's actually going on and not try to just do something so we can stay out of the courts," Painter said. "That's all things are happening because for a long time, what's the product? The product is the player. They're viewed as amateurs, but they weren't amateurs.

"There's a lot of money generated through what they're doing. Name, image and likeness needed to happen. We just got to get some guardrails around it to be able to get there."

Have we fallen into a mesmerized state that makes us accept as inevitable that which is inferior or detrimental, as though having lost the will or the vision to demand that which is good?

1s: DH, Philon
2s: Zeke, Elmarko
3s: Kugel, Jamari, Passmore
4s: Kj, Clemence
5s: HD, Bidunga

Could be worse. But that doesn't feel like a true contender.

To me Kugel and Jamari are more like 2's. If Furphy leaves we'll be short on 3's.

I agree. And Zeke and Elmarko are more like 1s...but those are essentially the spots they'll be fighting for.

That sucks. He wouldn't have asked to come back if he didn't want to be at KU, regardless of role. Otherwise, why come back and redshirt?
