Wonder if the Chiefs are just shredding contracts, even if you have proven players, for more unknown guys who'll fit the system better?

Pay Mahomes and Tyreek - get young on defense.

I just saw a report that the Chiefs are releasing Houston?

Yep. It’s happening. Just not enough interest I’d guess.

Cap number just too high. Sucks the only time we got to see him at peak Houston was in 2014 before injuries happened.

I'm not going to miss the number he carried but that is surprising the Chiefs couldn't get anything for him. I know he lost a step off of the edge but he was still middle or slightly above for overall numbers. (I believe he was)

Between EB and Houston those have to be two of the worst ROI deals in franchise history. Peak EB and Houston never happened.

Now it’s being reported he has not been released. But he is not coming back regardless. Just depends on if they can get anything for him.

So Houston will be traded or released, Ford is FT but could also be traded and 'Reek is about to get a 'record' setting deal for a WR. What an off-season. I am also worried you let go of Houston and Ford that is put a lot of faith in FA, the draft and the guys you have on your roster that haven't shown much.

Heard an interesting point this morning.

Patriots DL always created crazy pressure without top tier guys. They have some top players at LB and secondary though. But for the most part, they can create pressure without top tier guys.

The DL coach for the Patriots from 2015-2018, is now with the Chiefs.

Maybe him and Spagnuolo think they can create pressure without needing to pay top dollar for edge rushers. Maybe they want to use that money on young guys in the secondary and at the LB spot.

Interesting point and not a crazy one by any means. That has been the Patriot model for years. They never, ever pay guys.Partly because they have Brady but because Billy B trusts himself and his staff to make it work. Hell they got rid of their best defensive player, Jamie Collins once in the middle of the year.

I'm not mad at the idea but can I trust Spags to pull it off?

In the same regard they have never paid top offensive guys either. It does make me nervous tying up a lot of money in a small amount of players.

Looks like they are already on their way to paying Tyreek.
I hope his contract isn't so outrageous it straps us.
He's a great WR - but Mahomes can make Conley and Demarcus Robinson look good.

Chiefs sign Carlos Hyde for 1 year.
Not exciting but good goal line dude.

And Antonio Brown traded for pennies ( 3rd/5th rounder ) to Raiders.
Good deal for Raiders and his prima donna tude will fit perfectly with that organization.

I agree. Thing is he's probably not going to be their kicker.
If it comes down to Redford Jones and Blewitt then maybe Blewitt wins the job but if the Bears don't pick up someone else I'll be shocked. Might even draft a Kicker.
Stay tuned.

Meanwhile, the Chiefs are more interesting. Sorry I interrupted but I am a big Kyle Long fan. On and off the field.
Carry on Chiefs fans. SUPER BOWL 2020!

Big money being thrown around. Collins the S from Giants went to Washington for 6/$84M. For a box safety, that's unreal. Chiefs will likely stay away from FA S.

Will build that side of the ball through the draft now, in my estimation.

Safety market just skyrocketed.
Thanks Redskins.
If we're keeping Berry I wonder what Ha-Ha Dix ( dix jokes to follow ) would cost?

I think we need to 'splurge' a bit on something - whether it be corner, safety or linebacker.
