I love having sQuirt and Senor Randall around. We can read about "rubethink", but it is rare to have unlimited access to a live rube so that you can bounce thoughts off their forehead and see what sort of crazy trajectory the ricochet takes in real time. They are the true useful idiots. They provide a helpful head's update on the new directions in "rubethink".
If Cassandra was a new user he would not have been banned. Lobster spammed the boreds and was warned and put in longer and longer timeouts but kept doing so. He is “perma banned”.

They'll ban Super Bowl parades before they do anything serious about adjusting gun legislation. This country is fucking ignorant.
Not being a smartass, but wasn't it a handgun?
If the gun that woman moved is a handgun then we're all fucked.

i’ve watched that video a dozen times, and still don’t see anything that looks for sure like a gun

You can try and restrict my access to the stupid crazy, but by god there are plenty still bringing it every day. I should visit the hobo encampment next to the tracks by the City Market today and get me some real real estate advice.
And sQuirt; you are still welcome to visit for Solstice.
Call me when you get to the Greyhound Depot in Alamosa and I will send Lil' Stinkers Cab around to drive you up for the festivities. We have multiple construction sites you can sleep in and there is a stack of cardboard behind the grocery.

is there a local tow truck that could pick him up instead (and drop him in the middle of the wilderness)?

partially, because of 2coaches comment I was expecting something that would make me exclaim "look at the fucking size of that"

I saw a video yesterday that showed a long gun that appeared to be assault-rifle-style. Certainly not a handgun (but this is all very fog-of-war-y still; the fact that there are so many GSW victims but so few fatalities would suggest handgun(s) being used in the actual shootings).

As details come out (about the shooter(s), the reason(s) for shooting and the victims), I'm afraid - I hope I'm wrong - that this is going to be memory-holed.
You're going to see, I'm afraid (and I hope I'm wrong), the politicians and commentators say that the popularly-favored legislation and regulation wouldn't have prevented this particular instance.
You're going to see - this I
know - certain types of politicians and commentators send the blame to some pretty ugly places.
To which I have two responses:
1 - Legislation that has the effect of reducing the raw number of guns in the wild, and puts stronger controls on the types of what those guns are, and stronger tracking/tracing etc., will
absolutely result, in the long term, in fewer shooting deaths. Raise the barriers to acquisition (cost and otherwise), and fewer people that should not have them will acquire them (legally or illegally). It's basic math.
2 - More generally, I saw the KCPD chief last night say, "This isn't Kansas City." She's wrong. It is. But at least genuine, legal
action here can back up the kind-hearted
intent she had when making her statement. Show our kids - show MY kids - that we're better than memory-holing this, better than throwing our hands up, better than stopping at blaming specific people/groups.

180-some gun homicides last year…a record for the metro

Test this logic: democrats are coming for your guns with regulations. Democrats are the reason for gun crimes everywhere.

"But they happen in cities with Dem mayors so it must be Dems fault..." (ignoring that these are state and federal laws regarding the purchasing, registration, etc...)

This is at 12 seconds into twocoach's linked video. The woman in the white top with her back to us on the far right in this picture is straightening up after picking something up off the ground with her R hand that appears to have been left there as the momentum of the scrum carried the bodies to our left. When you watch it in the video, that "something" is a gun, and not a pistol.

Thanks for finding.
I still can't tell what kind of gun it is, one of the gun experts will have to fill us in.
A handgun with attachments or something else?

Gotta be a 60 round mag.
Nub stock makes it less accurate, but easier to draw.
With that many rounds, and that big of a crowd, accuracy isn't needed.
I thought I saw another shot of one of the other perps carrying a HIGH capacity handgun.
The fact that so many children were hit, and many of the other victims were mid abdomen wounds indicates to me that there was a lot of hip fire shooting.
