Biden wasn't in my top 5 dems running at the beginning....but i was guaranteed to vote for whoever got the pick.
I do think the dem machine missed a chance to usher out the old guard by thinking that biden was the only 1 or 1 of the few that could beat trump, because i don't believe that. I actually think some of the others had equal or better chance to do that because most of us weren't voting for trump no matter what.
It sucks they picked biden....and it means a lot of us who voted for biden this time will be looking elsewhere in 2024 if he somehow tries to run for reelection.
I hope some of those likeable dems run again, and i hope the republicans find someone with half a brain and some fucking character to run in 2024.
You do realize that we have Biden not because of the "Dem machine" but because a bunch of people who voted in the primaries were worried about the ability of any other Dem to beat Trump, aren't you?
An unnecessary worry they were led to believe by the dem machine.
Almost every single one of those candidates were capable of beating trump. Several moreso than biden.
Many older voters were not as confident that a woman or a guy man would have as much appeal. Rightly or wrongly, that's how we ended up here.
Honestly, Biden is going to be crucified by Trumpers if he wins. I'd rather he serve to right the ship for four years while the next wave of younger Dems is given opportunities to gain power and experience.
I do not believe that a VP Harris would automatically be "the next in line" for the Dems. I'll be stumping for Klobuchar in 4 years. She's a level headed intelligent Midwesterner. Curious to see if she remains in congress or if she moves into a different role in the administration. Buttigieg is undoubtedly headed for a Cabinet position if Biden wins.

To be fair, Biden has said many offensive and possibly racist statements about blacks in the past. It's just that the mainstream media is not highlighting it because they want the easily controllable candidate.

You don't think Trump is easily controlled by the media? Really? LULZ!

If you're acting this erratic now, I wonder how you'll handle life in November when Trump is re-elected.

Same way I have handled life the previous 4 years - and the 49 years before that.

No, I'll probably move to Michigan and join a "militia".
I'll go by the alias Ron Stallworth.

And also, because of where you read the 'sound bite', it was taken out of context to help your YouTuber make their point.

Or that it was mostly 25 years ago when society in general was more racist and it wasn't out of the norm. And I see racially insensitive statements to be different than racist statements. Biden has changed more with the times as we all need to. Trump has not.

A few months ago biden said "you ain't black" if you don't know whether you are voting for him or trump.
Biden said poor kids are as smart as white kids.
Give me a break.
Do i think Biden is a true racist? No... but he certainly doesn't get a pass for being less racially insensitive that trump. That is a ridiculously low bar.
We have got to do better. Neither of these men should be the next president. We can pick better leaders than this....but since we have only 2 options Biden is the only choice this time.

There is a name for it! The lip funneler!
Although news coverage generally focuses on what the candidates say, as a political psychologist who studies nonverbal behavior, I focus less on the rehearsed answers and more on the space between talking points. These moments, when candidates nonverbally – and largely involuntarily – respond to their opposition can be enormously revealing.
Instead of directly attacking Biden when his assertions were questioned, Trump responded with what may best be termed a controlled-posed smile, in which his lower lip is pressed up while his lip corners were pulled up in a smile. This type of smile is often used to mask negative emotions or to signal positive emotions when they are not felt.
Perhaps Trump’s signature facial display is his protruding funneled lips. This lip funneler – as it is referred to by facial display researchers – can often be seen while Trump is listening and preparing to interrupt or respond to Biden. The research that exists about this behavior in humans suggests it is a primal display often occurring during intense emotional situations and is associated with anger and threats while engaging in dominance-seeking behavior.

Biden says a lot of stupid shit, and immediately clarifies and/or apologizes for it.
Trump says a lot of stupid shit, and then doubles down on it.

Again, facile, lazy both-siderism
It isn't both siderism.
Apologizing for saying racially insensitive stuff doesn't make it okay.
Simply being a better person than trump doesn't make it excusable.
The rush to excuse his actions/words is sad, but predictable. Trump isn't the bar for "acceptable", at least not for me. Biden gets my vote this time, very unlikely next time.

Do I fundamentally believe that Joe Biden is racist? No. There is far more evidence in actions, behaviors and statements that he isn't.
