flat tax is much more of a burden on low earners.
(A higher income burden may be the difference between, say, that new hot tub at a vacation home; the lower may be the difference between, say, paying rent or buying groceries.)
I’ve long opined for a tax rate based on an exponential curve. The more you make, the more you pay, simple as that. And get rid of all the loopholes and exemptions and crap. And design it to be adjusted to actually balance a budget.
And maybe even augment it with a national sales tax of sorts, so we’re taxed not just on income, but on consumption. And sales tax rates for private jets and yachts could be higher than the rates on bread and eggs.
Hush now, none of this needs to be implemented until after I buy my third home.
One of the analogies I think makes sense is that part of my tax burden goes to pay for airports and roads and services in towns and States I don't have an office or a home in. But my business is based upon a national reach. If my 170 employees can't get to every town in the US on a speedy/economical basis, I can't make the profits I make. My employees make a salary. I make a larger salary and collect dividends which exceed salary. Those dividends/profits are not possible if there isn't a national infrastructure that my employees can use. I benefit more than they do from the infrastructure, and therefore should pay a higher rate to maintain those services and infrastructure and so does everyone else in my income bracket. It is fair.
Little of my income goes into anything that has sales taxes included. I don't buy new trucks, I buy expensive things second hand on eBay or Craigslist, I raise food in my garden and buy directly from farmers, and I don't eat at restaurants much. A lot of my income goes either into savings or into buying real estate in a low property tax State.
Give me more tax breaks if you want, but the reality is it won't be trickling back down. The sales taxes and real estate taxes of the rest of the population will likely be paying, is what compensates for the decreased revenue from my tax cuts. Flat income tax rates would be huge give away, but I will accept them if the populists think it is best for the country. I will have to pay taxes on my PPP loan forgiveness, because it will end up in my dividend check, but as my accountant says, "the bad news is you owe money, the good news is you can afford to pay them". Because dividend taxes were just cut it will help ease my tax burden from that give away.
Anyone not in the 1% who is worrying about the effects of a tax increase on those making over $400K is a sucker.

Mayor Pete for the W.
He is so good on his feet. I don't know what job he'd get in a Biden administration (obviously, by the weight he's carrying lately, it's going to be quite senior). But he is pointed toward being a force in national politics for the remainder of his career.

He'd be a great press secretary, though that's not probably the political launching platform he'd presumably prefer.

Yeah, he's pointed for either Chief of Staff or DNI, or Homeland Security or State.

Should be he and Amy instead of Biden/Harris. (Don't care which as P or VP)
Then i would be very optimistic about our country the next 8-16 years.

I understand why Biden is hiding out. He has no way to address the questions about the hard drives. There's no way he can be honest about it. It was a brilliant move to release that hard drive news right before the election because it stopped Biden from being able to address questions from the press.

It's just the icing on the cake. It's not even needed -- don't worry. Trump had this thing won when Biden was announced.

Agreed. He lacks only experience and particular knowledge based on particular experience. He's a prime candidate for a major Cabinet spot if Biden wins.

Why do you assume he is hiding out, because your Q Facebook memes say he is? He has been making numerous appearances and will continue to do so.

He's not taking any questions on the drive. Not a good look. Like I said, he won't win, but he would have to step down anyway if he did (and the democrats don't mind). They want Harris in there.
Joe reminds me a lot of this villain in the Godfather III.

I'd say something about the futility of trying to prove a negative, but I think that itself would end up being circular.

I have a goofball on Facebook whim I grew up with that is a full-on anti-vaxxer QaNon kook. I peruse her Facebook feed for a laugh and to see what's on the radar of the kooks.
Every goofball theory that Lobster floats here is straight out of her feed of conspiracy memes. I see new things on her feed and Lobster is reliably mentioning them here within hours.

I can provide links to the Biden hard drive videos. It's NSFW so enter at your own risk. If you want to still call it "conspiracy" after seeing it with your own eyes, you're obviously not accepting reality.

"Our results clearly showed that the strongest predictor of conspiracy belief was a constellation of personality characteristics collectively referred to as 'schizotypy,' Hart said.
The trait borrows its name from schizophrenia, but it does not imply a clinical diagnosis. Hart's study also showed that conspiracists had distinct cognitive tendencies: they were more likely than nonbelievers to judge nonsensical statements as profound (a tendency known as "BS receptivity").
"These people tend to be more suspicious, untrusting, eccentric, needing to feel special, with a tendency to regard the world as an inherently dangerous place," Hart said. "They are also more likely to detect meaningful patterns where they might not exist. People who are reluctant to believe in conspiracy theories tend to have the opposite qualities."

And just so obviously bad-faith: this is not an extension of the time to vote.
